We currently have 76 points... If we win against the Leafs we'll have 78 points.
Like I said, they only need to catch up in points because they have the tie breaker. They only need three points to finish ahead of us if we lose the next game in regulation. They need four points to finish ahead of us if we lose the next game in overtime. They can't finish ahead of us if we win the next game.

This is why I don't get why people are freaking out that we might draft 3rd or 4th. This is not a Hall-Seguin type battle, 2-5 is basically a crapshoot.

the lottery remains. so worse case scenario is we draft 4th overall regardless of lottery and edmonton results...

The difference between 3rd and 4th could be huge. If Yakupov goes first and the Oilers take a blueliner 2nd... we get to pick the forward we want. I'd really like to see what Timmins can do with a top pick. If a star is there I have faith that Timmins will get him.

So a Habs regulation loss and 1 Oilers win and one OT loser point game or a Habs loser OT point and 2 Oilers wins will do it.. I'm content with 28th at this point..

28th also gives us much better odds of drafting 1st than finishing 27th would've. I think its 14% vs. 8%.
