Yes, he's been overlooked. I think he's served his purpose well this season. He's worth keeping as Price's backup.

Gino has always spoke that way. Listen to WHAT he is saying, not the WAY is saying it.

It's refreshing to hear a guy who's not saying the same ****ing cliches days in, days out.

Let us pray.
Top 4 assure us one of Yakupov , Grigorenko , Galchenyuk or Forsberg.

I'd prefer one of the top two in Yaku and Grigs but we still have a chance to land a pretty good forward in Galchenyuk or Forsberg. Not too shabby if you ask me. Of course the ideal scenarios would be to : Win the lottery , pick at #2 or pick #3 with the Oilers picking a D at #2 so let's pray for one of these scenario to unfold.

I went back to 1998 (the last point NHL.com has Empty net totals). If you exclude empty net goals and shootout goals Montreal sits at a -4 for real goal differential.

No team team finishing in the bottom 5 of the league has come close to Montreal in real goal differential. Closest is 98-99 Capitals with a real dif. of -16.

History will be made.

Closest comparable I can find since the Original six is the 92-93 New York Rangers who finished 4th last with a -4 (no idea on their empty nets).

Crazily enough, they won the Cup the next year.

The Habs' favorable position in the standings is Gauthier's unintended parting gift. No. 3 (or 4 at worst) is higher than No. 5 in 2005. It would be neat if a Habs loss on Saturday thwarts the Leafs' hope of moving up by even one notch, but I'd rather have the Habs massacre them.

True story: at the Maniwaki arena about 10 years ago, my son had a tournament there. at the pro shop, they had a sign at the back of the room that read; 'Gino Odjick owes (can't remember the amount of money) to the pro shop since 1987 (close to those years)'. It was hilarious. The guy is a known lush and a known brain-dead guy in Manik. Legend has it that he fathered many, many, many kids there.

Still, he's a nice dude. lol

I would've used the Budaj, Mayers and Staubiz in the SO but that's just me.

NHL.com has him listed as the 3rd shooter instead of Cole.

On another note, Leafs have clinched 7th (they hold the tie-breaker on both the Lightning and Canes). Which means, the only way to protect from them picking ahead of us with a lottery win would be to lose saturday and get that 2nd spot from Edmonton.

I like when forwards tried to figureskate or do fancy feints in front of Gorges.

and he was just "Denied"

Gorges is the AntiChara

Leafs sit 7th. They win the lottery they get our 3rd.
Leafs beat us next game They end up 8th. They win the lottery it doesn't effect us and we keep our 3rd overall pick.
I would rather just lose that game making sure that the Leafs have no chance to steal our pick.

What would you rather see.
A Habs win and give the Leafs a chance to steal our pick.
A Habs loss and no chance for the Leafs to steal our pick.

The last game of the season means nothing. The 3rd overall means everything.

Looking back now I'm kinda happy Muller left the Habs last summer instead of staying and being put into the lame duck position RC was placed into this year..

I just read a google translated version of a Muller article from Wed and if the translation was correct I can't believe the Habs didn't have anything to offer Muller so he had to look elsewhere.. Here's the article which I'm sure was posted around here somewhere already..

Nope, they can't finish 8th. We have to grab 2nd to be "Leafs lottery win" protected. And they just climbed to 6th with that Minny SO win. We also have to root for a Minny loss (and an Anaheim one, tonight or this week-end).

We've been fascinating to follow from a statistical standpoint this year. Just looking at our normal goal differential we look like an outlier but it's even worse without the SO and empty net goals.

Just need to find a GM who'll understand that.

Though the team is clearly weaker on the wings than it was at the beginning of the season, going from having Kostitsyn as their 5th best winger to having Bourque as the third best. Finding a top 6/tough minutes LW to push Bourque down on the third/exploitation line would help and having Gionta back will be huge.

Defence could use a top 4 defensive D and we should look for a good defensive fourth line center to take some of the Dzone faceoff load of Plekanec.

Nothing crazy there. Take the high pick and run, don't blow up the team Oilers-style and I can see us rebounding next year.

If Minny and the Canes lose their next game in regulation and the Leafs win they jump over Minny and end up tied with the Canes for 7th-8th.Both have the same amount of wins . Head to head is the next tie breaker. Who wins that tie breaker?Leafs can still end up 8th.

Edit Canes won the regular season 3 games to 1. Worst the Leafs can do is 7th.****.

I'm tired of wanting the Habs to lose. It's balls out win on Saturday. Let the lottery chips fall where they may.
