I knew Couture got hurt, but that has got to be the smallest touch I've ever seen called a major penalty.

He was just trying to pin him, which you see a thousand times, but Couture was off-balance and was further away from the boards than Clifford realized. Unfortunate.

The Clifford hit looked weak, but it was on a star player and he went down hard.

Automatic 5 for injury. Easy call.

Jesus Mitchell and Couture out...

Ya know I thought I saw the Saints defensive coordinator coming out of the Kings locker room...

Regardless Clifford knows better, You see numbers like that you have to stop.

It's the hitters job to stop.

This isn't an overreaction. I've been saying this all year. He's had a handful of good games at best and the rest of the time, he's looked like an AHLer.

If Couture were not off-balance, Clifford's tiny little touch would already be forever forgotten. It's absurd to say Shanahan will be calling on that one.

Boom. End of discussion. Doesn't matter if he "just touched him" in the eyes of some people. He lined up a player in a vulnerable position. In today's NHL you gotta be smarter then that. Clifford time and time again this season has proven he isn't very smart.

And the injury on the play is the automatic 5. It has nothing to do with the volatility of the hit, if he was injured that's 5. And Couture was injured.

The only reason Couture goes off that quick is because the period's nearly over and the impression that he's hurt promotes the 5. Clifford barely hit him but was stupid for hitting him at all considering the calls we got in the first.

It's very possible he gets a game suspension. Consider that he was already given a game misconduct for a needless check to the head in Phoenix.

Exactly, and untill the NHL puts in a Rule about player's putting themselves in a Stupid position to get hurt, is in the book.

Then we can debate, but there is no such rule.
