Hodgson has a much sexier 8 points, all of which have come since being promoted to a line with Thomas Vanek 8 games ago.
Coaching and management’s concern was that, without some serious sheltering, Hodgson’s defensive deficiencies would undermine his production and make Vancouver easier to play against in the playoffs.

Since arriving in Buffalo 18 games ago, Hodgson has been on the ice for 15 Buffalo goals. However, he’s been on the ice for 18 of the Sabres’ 44 goals against. That’s 41% of them.

Worse, the Sabres have been outscored 13 to 7 at even-strength with Hodgson on the ice. He has an even plus-minus on the year; he was a plus-8 when he left.
To be fair, some of this is due to bad bounces, but Cody’s not doing himself any favours: the Sabres control 44.6% of Fenwick events when he’s on the ice, which is a fancy way of saying the opposition has the puck a lot. Since the trade, only fourth-liner Matt Ellis has a worse Fenwick rating among Sabres, and he’s been out with a knee injury for 3 weeks.
That sounds like Cody is actually worse than he was here.
Interesting interview with Cliff Ronning. "Fun to beat the Leafs".

does that count PK ? Because he plays PK in buffalo and did not in Vancouver
Honestly what is your problem with Cody? can't you hope he does well in buffalo?
you bash him any chance you get whether its here, or on the main thread, no sabres fans have a problem with him and think he is doing great but you who likely has not watched buffalo play more than 5 times since his trade appartenly believe he has been bad becuse of an article or some pointless stats.
Anyways best of luck to Kassian he will be good

There was an even strength stat in that post and you didnt respond to any of it actually. I have a problem with Cody being selfish but in no way do I wish him to fail.

And it's pretty clear he asked for a trade after all the BS in the media and a reporter asking him straight up with him refusing to answer. In terms of character, he has none in my opinion. Regardless of the fact that you feel you have to defend him at every chance, you dont know him or his agent personally nor do you know Gillis.
Anyways, no response to anything in that article? Obviously aside from Hodgson has been REALLY good stats aside?
Dont believe me if you want, I am 100% certain he did not
it does seem like his agent seems like a pain in the ass
I do not believe you.
We watched the Hodgson two step and shuffle when the question was put to him directly on HNIC. Duck and cover was the order of the day. Being the son of a politician he learned the weasel way.
The player controls the agent, not the other way around. As veteran Vancouver Province hockey writer Ed Willes reported Hodgson asked for a trade right after the SCF last season and again just before the trade deadline.
No doubt the the trade timing took him completely by surprise as he was hoping to pad out his resume with a long play-off run. Mike Gillis fooled him and moved him at a time when hockey trades are not done. Pretty clearly Gillis concluded he was an ongoing distraction in a very tight dressing room and he was not buying into the team first culture. Since the trade a number of players have referred to this team first culture and IMHO are impliedly criticizing Hodgson.
It was not a surprise to me as I had raised red flags about Hodgson in the past for which I was shouted down by the Cody is a Golden Child fan group that predominated.

Those numbers are especially bad when you consider that he was on the ice for 3 ES GF in his first 3 games with the Sabres. Since then he's been outscored 13-4 at ES and has been a -11 in his last 15 games.
He also has only 4 ES points in 18 games with 2nd line minutes, which means his ES production has actually dropped by about 1/3rd since the trade.

Then compare Cody's numbers with those of Sammy Pahlsson and it becomes clear that we're a significantly more balanced team since the trade deadline.
Hey guys I was wondering during the 94 stanley cup finals during the end of the game where Jim Robson said something like "He'll play, you know he'll play. He'll play on crutches," on Trevor Linden. Was Trevor Linden injured on that play though? I would really like to know.
Edit: Apparently he suffered from broken ribs and torn rib cartilage. Not sure if that was a result from Messier though, if anyone can inform me that would be nice. Thanks.
holy crap, 25 games for raffi torres. i get that he has a previous record of bad behaviour, but i honestly don't see what he did as any worse than what brad marchand did to salo. in fact you could argue that the torres hit was closer to a clean hockey play than marchand's, or any other number of deliberate attempts to injure. not defending torres, 25 games just seems like total overkill compared to the standard that has been set up to this point.
Sigh. We really could use Samuelsson right now. Booth is a young, energetic power forward... But he doesn't have nearly as good a hockey sense Samuelsson has. Our powerplay would look a LOT better with him manning our right point.

Yep.
Plus he could be extra insurance should Burrows not producing enough with the Sedins.
MG should have offered Malhotra or Raymond instead of Samuelsson. The Swede is a proven playoff performer, something Manny or Mason can't claim to be.
^ former sedin linemates samuelsson, bernier, and pyatt have combined for 4 goals and 6 assists in a combined 18 games so far this postseason. current sedin linemates burrows and booth combined for 1 goal, 1 assist in 10 combined games.
maybe this should have gone in the fire AV thread?

Bernier and Pyatt are worth a well worn puck combined.
