I buy 4 Avs shirts/jerseys and go to AT LEAST 10 games a year...Say what you want about Sacco Im not spending another cent on this organization until he's gone.

Unfortunately, the CBA situation won't be resolved until after July 1st. So we get another year of creatively managing the cap to just barely get over the cap floor.

We can re-sign all of our free agents, give Suter $8M/yr, and we'll still have cap room left over. We should be fine even if the salary cap goes down.

However, getting Kroenke to spend and convincing Suter to sign with the Avs is an entirely different discussion. But it can be done.....

Re-signed:

- UFA's David Jones and Jay McClement are must re-sign's
- Re-sign RFA's Steve Downie, Jamie McGinn and Ryan O'reilly to 3 year contracts.
- UFA Cody McLeod would be nice to have back but not essential
- RFA Erik Johnson signs a 7 year deal
- UFA Matt Hunwick can be brought back as a lower pairing D-man
- RFA Ryan Wilson can be brought back as a lower pairing D-man

Top Line: Olver - O'Reilly - Landeskog
2nd line: McGinn - Stastny - Jones
3rd line: We basically need a whole new 3rd line
4th line: McLeod - McClement - Kobasew

Johnson - ??
Hunwick - Guance
Hedja - O'Bryne

I think we can get a good return by trading Duchene. We should be able to get a 3rd line center and a good D-man if we throw in one of Elliot/Barrie. We can sign a few good two way players for our 3rd line.....I would throw top dollars at Detroit's Juri Hudler and maybe offer a nice contract to Boston's Chris Kelly
Ready to hop on the "trade Duchene!" bandwagon I see? Not sure why, not exactly sure what the kid's done to deserve to be traded. And we have a 3rd line centre, his name is Jay McClemment. He just happens to play 4th line because of our centre depth. You saw first-hand what happened this year, duchene gets hurt, down to 2 centres who can score. What happens next year if we trade Duchene and one of stastny/o'reilly get hurt? I sure would like duchene to fall back on. Ask pittsburgh if they'd trade jordan staal and the answer is an emphatic no.

Also, not a fan of giving a 7 year contract. 3-4 MAX, so that we don't get tied up with cap problems.

And, not ready to give up on Mueller just yet. Give him this entire off-season to work on his conditioning and I think we'll see a return of the player who was drafted in the top 10, he went that high for a reason.

Way I see it next season:

Olver-Duchene-Mueller
McGinn-Stastny-Jones
Landeskog-O'Reilly-Downie
Malone-McClemment-Kobasew

XXX-Johnson
Hejda-O'Byrne
Wilson-Barrie/Elliot

Varlamov
Giguere

Would sure like to sign Ryan Suter...

LOL everybody is bashing O'Brien here. What did you expect from a 3rd pair d-man playing top pair minutes every game?

O'Brien was a 5th 6th d-man on his previous teams, Preds and Nucks. He was forced to play more minutes than he should have because the Avs lack true top pair d-men.

Blame lack of depth on defense, not O'Brien. You make it sound as if he is a # 1 or #2 d-man who had a bad season.

number one priority for this team, get johnson a reliable d partner, i though obrien was good this season, in limited minutes, i honestly expected better from hejda, he played well on the third pairing but needs to be a 2nd pairing guy at the top of his game.

no way we trade duchene, i think he will have a big come back year next year, suter would be perfect with johnson.

going to watch the last game agasint nashville for sure, because i know i'll be griping about no avs come july.

This team never deserved to make the playoffs... not with how they performed against the worst teams in the league.

Supported him all year and like the edge he brings to our blueline, considering our trees in ROB and Hejda are SOFT AS BUTTER, but tonight was unbelievably bad.

I still like him as a 6th guy, but giving him more minutes than that is too much of a risk for my liking.

Agreed on Duchene. Those who are suggesting we trade him are being way too hasty. Also, take the best defenceman on any team, pair him with Suter, and you have a great 1st D-pair lol.

I can't wait for Mueller to come back, be our #1 winger and make all the haters eat a crow for wanting him gone.

agreed, if Mueller resigns and he and duchene are both healthy they will kill it, especially if you put either downie or lando on the line to help clear some space for them on the ice as well as provide an extra boost of offense

they ran out of gas. I don't think they had any shot winning series, but still It would have been fun to make playoffs.

Frustration at points this season, but positives to take away, as well. Will re-visit this thread in about a month once we've had time to digest.

now that we wont make the party?

Who will folks here, aka Avs fans root for?
For me I know who I will not root for, Detroit SJS Vancover...
I might even root for an Eastern Conference team...
I like the Rangers, and out of avs caryover, Stewart trade.. I like the Blues.. sort of,
I guess It would be Chicago and Blues in the West and in the East Rangers...
Its kind of hard to get excited and root for another team, kinda like your Girl is sick and you have to take your sister to a friends wedding!
Go avs...

another thought...Maybe Nashville, gr8 seeing Yip produce points... miss him here...

That's pretty much the same situation that we had with Brisebois . He was fine as a bottom pair + PP minutes , but as soon as we were giving him top 4 minutes his flaws were visible , to a point that it was dangerous to have him on the ice .
