Tanking to play Florida runs the risk of Florida beating Carolina after us giving momentum (and confidence) to our 1st round opponent, Washington.
Play to win, imo, and may the chips fall where they may.
I'd much rather play either FLorida or Ottawa over the Caps. Very tied of seeing the Caps in the first round in fact, I think if we'd won the shootout vs Flyers to make the playoffs in 09-10 it would have been the Caps we played as well.
I'm sorry fella's it kills me to say this but i don't think it's gonna matter who this team plays.. There probably goin' down..I've said it all year this team is missing something. The D hasn't paled well latley.. Were soft upfront, no net crashers to speak of, and now the goaltentending has been inconsistent....IMO they could be the most overated team in hockey.

We were picked to finish 7th in the conference and finished 1st... that's technically underrated.

The Rangers have the knowledge of going into tomorrow's game knowing that if they win, they will be matched up against the Capitals in the first round of the playoffs. They have the rare opportunity to send a message in the last day of the regular season that they will not be toiled with, as the Rangers were unable to do against Pittsburgh last night. As Pittsburgh and Philadelphia know that they are about to embark on a 8 game-series of sorts with their game on Saturday leading into their first round series, you will see a fierce battle between interstate/interdivision rivals. The Rangers need to go into their game with the Caps on Saturday with the same mentality.
This is the team that has knocked the Rangers out of the playoffs their last 2 appearances. You think that doesn't sting in Lundqvist's mind? I bet it does.
Fact of the matter is that the playoffs start tomorrow. It doesn't matter that the Rangers have already clinched top dog of the East, and that Tortorella doesn't care about the President's trophy because this is NOT a game to play for nothing in. This is a message game, and it's as simple as that.
Send a message that the Rangers will playing deep into the spring.
Bring on Whoever...However the Capitals are down to one goalie Braden Holtby who has spent much of the season in the minors. Now he could be the next coming of Patrick Roy and shock us, but i don think so.

Quite frankly I hope we lose and Carolina beats Panthers.
I'm all for playing well, sending a message, going 1000% even if we're already clinched.. but tbh, the difference between facing FLA and WSH is massive, IMO. Please, lose.
No offense to FLA, but we should blow by them in 4 or 5, Washington will be harder.
