I'd say McBain's likely the oddman out.
That may be the case.

Myers plays internationally for Canada though.

I'm surprised anyone would take that job...

Congrats, but that's a bit of an ominous job. Replacing a coach that never coached a game? I'd pass to be completely honest, try to latch on as an assistant somewhere in the states.

But hey, if it's what he wants, more power to him. You've got to be a good coach to coach in the KHL. Congrats to him!

How do you know if he was offered any jobs in North America? It's not like his resume sparkles! I'm glad he's no longer on the Canes payroll to be honest.

How can you be glad he's no longer with this organization? Not like the season he spent as an assistant coach or the one year as a pro scout?

Seriously, the guy had like no impact on the team so I fail to see how anyone could care, much less be glad, that he's gone.

Good to hear JR say that corporate sales and ticket revenue are up despite the disappointing season. Also, it sounds like that new TV contract is going to be a pretty significant revenue bump.

According to SBD, Carolina Hurricanes were the only Eastern Conf. team to have a % decrease in attendance this season: -2.6%.

Attendance down, revenue up? Hm.

Coming off the All Star ticket package bump and consecutive seasons of being a playoff non-factor by Christmas, a 2% drop is nothing to worry about.

Not shocked at the decrease, semi-shocked that nobody else had one.

Isn't that drop only like 400 people?

EDIT: Okay, nevermind. Cooper's information hints otherwise.

16,042 per game this season (22nd in the league) and 16,415 last season (20th in the league).

Those difference between those numbers comes out to ~-2% rather than -2.6%, using the standard 18,680 that the PNC is said to hold.

Hmm...

Well surely Greg Wyshynski would never overstate something to make the Canes look worse.

Not to get all nerdy, but you can't use the capacity of PNC when calculating the drop in attendance, you have to use last years attendance as the base. Based on Coop's numbers:

(16415-16042) / 16415 = ~2.3%.

Ok, I did get all nerdy. Not that it really matters if is 2%, 2.3% or 2.6%.

A couple off season signings and a playoff apperance will surley fix those numbers.

Am I the only one more interested in the Western Conference playoffs than the Eastern Conference Playoffs?

You're not alone, I find it hard to actively root for any team in the Eastern Conference. I will be most interested in how Nashville and Phoenix do.

I have interest in Pittsburgh-Philly alone in the first round.

I'm interested in both the east and west. I have a hard time right now rooting for any of the teams in the east, but I'm just as interested in the games (especially Pitt/Philly and Bos/Wash)

I'm interested in the Battle of PA, but other then that in the East nothing really grabs my attention.

Almost every matchup out west sans Phoenix-Chicago is awesome though.
