Rob Flick from Rockford attacked Milwaukee goalie Jeremy Smith during an officials time out at the midway point of the second period. Several Admirals skated down from their bench and attacked Flick to get him off the much smaller Smith. Then came a wave of Rockford players. There were 10 ejections including both starting goalies and both Head Coaches.
Coach Ted Dent of Rockford was yapping at several Admirals after the players returned to their bench areas. It nearly triggered a second brawl. The refs ordered the teams back to their dressing rooms. The gloves and sticks were picked up and the zambonies came out during a full 18 minute intermission. The last 10 minutes of period 2 were played followed by another 18 minute intermission. Rockford won 2-1 in a shootout. Atte Engren, the Milwaukee back-up goalie, is not good in shoot outs.
Expect Flick to be suspended. There may be some other suspensions.
How? The other 2 that got hit with 3 games left the penalty boxes, while Smith only got one for throwing the first punch. I'd say its fair. I would guess if it happened during play, Flick would have only gotten 1 game.

That's the point, though. It didn't happen during play. Flick was hanging around the crease during a timeout which started the whole Pier 6 to begin with.

So you're saying if it was during play, it should have been 3 also for getting jumped by Smith? Not saying what Flick did was right, but 3 is fair IMO.

IMO, if it happened during the play, Flick should have gotten less than 3. The fact that he was hanging out in the opposing crease during a team timeout should have increased it to 5.

Amen brother! I voted for the rest of the season. I didn't count, but 5 games is probably close. I know that Milwaukee had 8 games remaining after the brawl and that other teams had played 1 to 3 more games than they did.
BTW, it was an official time out after the Latta - Lalonde fight. It came near the 10 minute mark of the period. You would think that a TO would prevent more trouble!
It only takes one jerk to start trouble. Have you seen the YouTube of that California HS baseball game? The man coaching 1st base said something to the Yuba City team and the pitcher threw the ball at him! It reminded me of the Ads-IceHogs fight.
The Admirals are now in complete control of their playoff destiny, even though the standings say they're still 9th.
They have the 5th best points percentage in the West at .563, just ahead of San Antonio and Houston. 7 points in their last 5 games clinches a playoff spot. They could still be tied in points with Rochester but would lead in ROW by a pretty wide margin. Road games against Houston (today), San Antonio (Tuesday), Rockford (Friday), Chicago (Saturday) and a home game against Charlotte (Sunday) to close out the season remain.
I'm actually curious if Engren has to play, how well he'll do. He's shown flashes of quality goaltending, but besides his 7 games played in February, has not played more than 3 games in any one month. I've felt his lack of success in some games was more due to rustyness than being a poor goaltender, so hopefully he'll run with this (potential) opportunity.
Probably not getting playoff tickets, just due to the potential of overlapping games for both the Wolves/Admirals and their matchups and rather pick and choose which games from each series. (Or they'll play each other and it won't matter, lol)

Has he ever played enough games to be considered streaky?
(Not that I am disagreeing with you, I am just not sure we ever saw enough of him to make a solid conclusion... then again, not a question we really want to find out at this time of the season!)
