I recall reading up and 56 points isn't brushing what any of the NHL caliber kids before him put up.
But, if the scouts like him I don't see why not, we've just never had luck with the "less talented relative" acquisitions before.
Stepan looked great last year. No idea why he hasn't progressed this year. He was looked at as a top 30 pick last year by some. Definitely hit a wall. I wouldn't be surprised if he went undrafted at this point. With that said, I'd take a flyer on him in the 6th or 7th round.

I would assume BJs would take LA's pick this year for several reasons.
1. This year's draft is seen as being stronger than next year's.
2. LA will likely improve next year and they will pick later.
3. The BJ GM will want to rebuild as quickly as possible to save his own job. Having 3 picks in the top 31, including the first overall, would give fans a lot of hope that the future is bright and things will turn around quickly.
Union doesn't even have scholarship athletes like Yale, Princeton, ect. Zero recruiting power aside from the draw of playing D1.
What they are doing here is very impressive.
Impressive yes but Colgate and Quinnipiac are the only schools in the ECAC that have the ability to offer athletic scholarships.
The rest including your examples are either Ivy League, which does not allow scholarrships or schools that are D3 for the rest of their sports.
I know it's OT but I hate when people complain about Ivy's having an advantage (especially Cornell since I go there) versus St Lawrence or Union or RPI when it isn't true. The advantages they have have nothing to do with scholarships.

No, you're correct. I never meant to insinuate that one ECAC school had an unfair advantage over another. I just am always pleased when one does well on an NCAA tournament scale.
Why is ESPN reporting Jack Connolly as a Dallas Stars draft pick? I can't find that information anywhere...hockeydb has him undrafted, so does elite prospects, and hockeys future has no mention of him on Dallas' page...
Just another ESPN brain fart?
Quote:
A Duluth native and Dallas Stars draft pick, Connolly had 20 goals and 40 assists in 41 games this season. He had 66 goals and 131 assists in 166 career games, leading the Bulldogs to the national title last year.

What do you guys think of Martin Frk? when he was just starting with the Mooseheads I'm pretty sure he was seen as a top 10 pick in his draft year. He had a big injury this season but I think he is playing with Nathan MacKinnon. I've only ever seen him at the World Juniors and he looked good there.

He's a bit of an enigma as a prospect. On the upside, it's hard not to like his blend of skill and tenacity. On the downside, his skating isn't great and he hasn't quite met the expectations that were put upon him. Granted, a serious concussion to start the year certainly hindered him, but I think he's going to end up as a guy who's taken by a team in the early 2nd round.
Good upside, but I'm not sure he has the character qualities that the Rangers would look for.

I want Christian Djoos just to have the potential of another Djoos on the Rangers
Interesting how close Kerdiles and Nieves are to each other. I'm telling y'all, if they can get an extra second rounder or even two for their first rounder and Gordie and comp know something....move down.
Some teams like CBJ and Tampa have multiple second round picks.
Rangers only have four picks at this time. The 5th rounder went for Scott, the 6th was to get Ceresnak last year, and the 7th was for Mitchell.
Eberle, Hall, RNH, Gagner, Smyth, Hemsky. Then there's also MPS.
If I'm Oilers I'd try to trade down with say Isles or Leafs. Take a D-man, Murray or Dumba and get extra picks. Hard to pass up on a guy like Yakupov but they wont be making playoffs until they improve that blue line.
