i'd rather have the younger / hungrier / healthier kids instead of a decoy.

Your fixation on Briere is savant-like.....

This is the crux of the matter. The Penguins play hockey with the intent to injure an opponent as part of their MO. Last night it was the same thing with Orpik taking out Stepan with a knee on knee hit. There is no respect between the players or the coaches for their opposition.
What was the point of sending out the goons against the Flyers with less than two minutes left to play in an already decided game? Bylsma had last line change. He saw Briere out there and let Vitale loose. Vitale knew what his coach wanted and that was a scalp and he got it for him.

Grossmann, Boychuk and Stepan. 3 injured players by pens' knees in 3 games

It blows my mind that people actually believe this. What makes people think entire teams genuinely go out and try to injure players? This isn't the New Orleans Saints where there were exceptional circumstances and money involved. What tangible evidence do you possibly have that can lead you to this conclusion? (Hint: all you're going to be able to find is a few examples of hits that end in injury. There is no link to intent, or an "MO" there. I could produce the same "evidence" for every single team in this league.)

i HOPE Danny is 'money' in the playoffs, but his injuries & performance this year lead me to have confidence in our youth

2010 he had 4 more points than he has this year and 5 more gp. Playoffs he would have won the Conn Smyth if we won the cup. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, hes proven me wrong too many times.

He may not get as many goals and more assists but as long as the pucks going in the net and were winning I don't care who scores. But I do agree that the young guns will be key to playoffs success, Couturier and Read in particular.

Yeah, agreed, 90% of the people here are just jumping to conclusions prematurely, and not in this matter alone. Maybe it's just the nature of fandom, where you have irrational behaviour as the default mode of operation, but I don't think it needs to be this way. But whatever, I'm pretty sure comments such as yours will get largely ignored just because it's easier to hate on everything the Pens (or whoever) do, and then try to rationalize the hate with made-up arguments.

I agree with DU as well, but I just have to point out that you're quoting a post with a joke involving statistics and then just pull a number out of your ass (more or less, even if it may well be accurate).

So I just watched the Pens game from yesterday. WTF is up with Giroux? Said h is out with an "upper body injury". Just being rested or what?

Giroux was just being rested. They needed to list an injury so Zolnierczyk could be used as an emergency call up.

So but if everyone knows this was the case, how come the league didn't take action against us?

We need Grossmann back in a big way. The defense is way more solid set up like this:

Grossmann-Coburn
Carle-Lilja
Timonen-Bourdon

We also need playoff-caliber Briere back:

Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr
Simmonds-Briere-Voracek
Read-Schenn-Wellwood
Talbot-Couturier-Rinaldo

That looks really good. Imagine if we had JVR and Meszaros back, let alone Pronger. Geez we would've had one helluva lineup!

He has had a flu or reportedly a sinus infection. He would have played if the game was more significant. The emergency recall is predicated on the fact that there were only 11 healthy bodies at forward with the absence of Giroux. The situation is amplified because of the timing but something similar happened earlier in the year when Bryzgalov had the flu and Jason Bacashihua was the emergency recall.

The "emergency recall" is a total joke. I became convinced of it this season. There basically is no limit to post-trade deadline recalls a team can make, because you can label everything an emergency recall.
