4 years 14 million.
I would have rather paid Grossmann this money than Robidas, that's for sure.

Decent price, but I don't think I would have given Grossman 4 years.

I'd have given him 2 to ensure that Oleksiak and Nemeth have time to adjust and work on the kinks in their games in the AHL.

4 years makes more sense for Philly.

Phoenix makes LA winning the division less likely with their win tonight. Also don't look now but Smitty is 4th in the NHL in SV%. 2nd if you whittle it down to the true starters.

He's definitely looking like a starter, but Tippett's system definitely helps.

Sure, but Bryz didn't put up these types of numbers in Phoenix either. .906, .920, .921 in his 3 full years there. Smith is playing at a higher tier than Bryz ever did.

True, but there are two things to that:
I think it's pretty obvious that Bryzgalov isn't all that impressive of a goalie with his play this year.
And this season has seen some insane numbers posted by goalies, as well as remarkably low scoring.
Also, Bryzgalov never had quite the defense in front of him that Smith does.

Bryzgalov was good in Anaheim before ever being hooked up with Tippett's system.
I think the point here is that Tip is a good coach and Smith is a good goalie. I'm happy for both of them, especially Smith with how his Tampa tenure went. I knew he couldn't possibly be as bad as Lightning fans were saying. That team has never played very good defense.

IIRC Smith actually played well in Tampa until the concussion at which point he was never the same again. Good to see him turn his career around in Phoenix though.

I think that's right but most of what I heard people weren't really mentioning the concussion or if they did it was only in passing. I always like Smith when he was here; I'm glad to see him doing well.

Calgary up 3-1.
Good for us if we lose tonight, as a win would put them ahead of us.
