Some folks on other boards wonder ing why knights called the more experienced,I think that the fact there are 9-92 born players and 2 O/A s on Londons 25 man roster whereas on Windsor there are 3-92 born players and 3 over agers, thats a 5 player difference.of course one could say that Flemmington and Martin dont play, while another could say that Cullen does not play either
London has youth and plenty of it,especially up front, but the 92 born players are significantly better then windsor,Knight,Watson,Mckegg,
Tinordi,Houser,Hughes,Namestikov and Ferry as opposed to Czinder,Posa and Braithwaite
Not really wondering why people are stating London was more experienced in the series...more curious as to why everyone chose to overlook the fact that London has a young core as well. Our vets really didn't do much in the 1st round. I saw the ongoing signals glaringly pointing to Windsor's youth as more of an attempt at accepting defeat because it was the easiest excuse to sell. Drumming the obvious so to speak. It was nauseating last season as well when everyone was selling the Knights as the Young Knights. I just view it as the easy sell by the media

No doubt the Knights have a young core, particularily upfront, not so much on defence except for the exceptional Maata,I felt overall the vets played pretty well especially the defence all 5 vets, plus Houser,Mckegg while the 1st 3 games did little,he did come alive in game 4,watson was solid thruout,Knight played well in the game he played, griffith was a spit killer on the pp,and Namestikov was pretty dangerous and looked good on the pp
The youngsters played pretty well boosted by the vets, kids such as Horvat, the aforementioned Mattaa ,the ruperts the last game, and Tierney showed they can play this game
The difference for the most part was Windsor's best players are their young from rookei goalie Pavelka to Rychel, not so much with the knights, too much depth and experience in the end
PP31 I will propose a media driven trade, you give Windsor the 9 vets I spoke about excluding Flemmington and Martin,u can have the 5 Windsor vets and lets see who wins
Oh by the way your best 93 born forward Griffith comes out and Windsor's best 93 born forward goes in Khoklachev,I am not so sure your young core would have struggled too against a more experience and talented group
The ability to roll 4 lines against 2 and 1/2 is huge, youth or not
I am not discounting London's youth at all,in fact Bo Horvat would look great in Spits colours,I do think he is the the most under rated Knight, does not get the recognition he deserves or the ice time that matters, and Ollie Mataa is a future stud who i dont see being in London after next year,he is that good
Overall i do think young times have to lose 1st to win the spits learned alot from losing to the sting in 2008,and won the next year,a year ahead of the curve, and then won again
Can this Knight team do the same
I am not so sure, they are pretty dinged up on the back end, time will tell against tougher foes going forward
Should be interesting

I'd do that trade..you keep Pavelka and I'll keep Houser..and I guarantee it goes 7.
Sorry PP31 u must Pavelka not Houser for this trade to go thru lol
BTW who do u think London gets with their 1st rd pick
They seem loaded upfront,how about a D-man?
I think we go for a D-man. If Watson is still around at 22 you'll see him in a Knights jersey. The thing is the 1st and 2nd round is so deep you are not going to go wrong with any player taken in the top 40. If Liam Herbst is still around late 1st round and someone passes on him..they may be passing on the most pure goaltender in the draft. A player you could see drop is Hiddink..a kid you could see rise is DiPerna. I believe DiPerna is the best dman available after McKeown.

PP31
I would do the same thing, but i would puke if the knights got Hiddink,i would say figures lol, though I would be surprised he drops that low
Would not shock me if the knights got the Watson twins, both will play in the O,the rich will get richer lol
I will say I expect the Spits to make huge splashes this summer in both entry and Euro drafts

The main thing with Hiddink is the fact that it's his 2nd year at the MM level. He has played up with the 96's almost every year and this year was mired on a very weak EM Chiefs team..that will drop his stock a bit. Some have him top 10-14..some have him as low as 20-22..some have him high 2nd round. If he drops to the bottom of round 1..he's the best available..you take him. The kid is a blue chipper. I've been telling people to watch out for this kid for the past 3 years.
Ill guess (yes just a guess) London in 5, maybe 6.
We need- the PP to continue to fire away.
. . -The Knights 4 lines start to wear down a Sag team who isnt quit as deep.
. .-Houser outplays Paterson.
. -the boyz continue the solid team D weve seen for about a month now
. .-the D healthy and ready to go. We are thin back there and having the big 3 will mean we should always have one if not 2 out against the big line for Sag.
-PK has to be solid and the boyz cant be giving them extra chances by being dumb (I figure Mark will have them playing disciplined)
Mark seems to be facing his second quality coached team in a row. Windsor was well coached just didnt have the horses this year. Saginaw has a few good vet players who will push the Knights. Itll be a tough go , but thru my green/gold shades I think they get er done.
Hopefully its as accurate as the Spits series guess
Any thoughts? I know, I know most want London to lose and I wouldnt have it any other way

I am on board with you, Knights have had Saginaws number so far this season but the Spirit have been playing great hockey since the deadline. I Think having Tinordi and or Harrington on the ice to face Saad and the boys. The Knights will be rolling 4 top lines and even if the Spirit can manage to win a few I cant see them winning a 7 game series against the depth of the Knights.
Sarnia had offence to match Saginaw but no defence, in a united front like London's who just swallow up forwards. By end of first period Saad will already be frustrated take it to the bank. He will be getting whacked and hacked every shift from some guy in green and many gloves in the mouth every scrum from the Rupes...this wears guys down and London play a lot more physical when they want to as opposed to Sarnia.
Maybe they lose one over at Saginaw but even that I have my doubts...4 straight
Too much defence, goal-tending and four solid units. London are scratching guys who could play on Sags second line.
London in five or possibly even four straight. That Easter Sunday game will give Sag big advantage of home ice until the young Knight's settle down.

Agreed Mr. Templer. I'd have to place my bet on 5 games. I'll give them one with Houser having an off night, but London is too deep in comparison. I think if Sarnia has their full sqaud for the last month of the season they would be facing the nights right now. Galchenyuk never had a chance to really get in game shape and with all the injuries in the 2nd half, they didn't have a chance to gel like they I believe they would have. Saginaw won the series and credit to them for doing so, but Sarnia wasn't healthy and missing key players.
One line can win you a game, but team depth will win the series!
I was saying same thing if Sarnia don't get Galley until end of March they are in trouble. You can't blame them for this it was simply injuries that were over the top this year. Healthy Sarnia I said in December could do some big damage , if they get healthy....too bad they couldn't re-group in time. At least Beauleiu recognized the urgency of Yak/ Gal and tried. He took a shot and failed....oh well.
London come into this series very well rested...8 days and that's a long break. These guys will need a period to ramp it down and get smoothed out. They just don't want to take too many bad calls and fall too far behind Saginaw early. The Spirit can snipe on that PP.
The Knights have had lots of time to pour over tape and come up with a gameplan. Mark should have them ready to go.
Sag is a much better team now, then when they met earlier, so just as with the Spits Ill throw the reg season #s out. Too much has changed
London has to control Saginaws top 4-5 Fs.
Will Mark reunite season D partners Harrington and Tonirdi? In an attempt to match up or do they stay with the balanced approach.
Rumors are the kid line may be broken up (Knight for Anderson) I hope not, but Mark has tough roster decisions when all Fs are healthy. Well see.
Special teams as always are a big key. Lose the #s game here and its often tough to get the Ws.
Roll the 4 lines and hope Saginaw cant match em.
I for one am glad its not a sportsnet game. Less timeouts for Saginaw.
The depth starting showing up early third with London rolling four units while Saginaw started to shorten their bench. By the time they pulled their Goalie they were gassed and lost races to pucks with London.
Line matchup > Rupert/ Rupert/ Watson : plus 5..Fine/ Shalla/ Saad : minus 9
Those Ruperts played them far more physical than Sarnia did.
London have to start paying attention more to Trochek/ Amestoy/ Locke...way too much room to wander.
Herbst is a great pickup at the end of the first round...picked up Broadhurst a 93 in the 2nd round...really??? Must have commited already for his 19 and hopefully 20 year old campaigns...could be a wasted pick if he is only here for next year!!
Gotta go D with our third...thats what will be lacking in few years time!!! Very suprised with Boradhurst probably could of waited a few more rounds to throw that name out could u not?
P.S. - dont know if this is a little off base but lets hope Herbst takes care of himself this summer, going to need in in 2014!!!!!!
John Di Lorenzo Southern Tier LD 6'1 190 06/06/1996
Are there ?s about work ethic or attitude?
I am more worried about his safety after our last high picked netminder...cant afford for that to happen again....R.I.P..... Andrew Abou-Assaly went late third... could of got used to seeing his magic instead of Macdonald but I dont think he would of commited to come here. Would of rather had Grahme Brown as well, but I will bite my lip as it is tough to question Marks success on this day!
Would it be mean if we took Watson in the 4th before Kingston could get there hands on him?

Gotcha. Losing Jenkins set us back. Terrible for the family to deal with. If that doesnt happen MArk prolly grabs Diperna or Watson and that woulda changed up their board I think. It happened , its tragic but it is what it is.

True enough. That 2nd rd seemed odd but Im going to defer to Mark LOL
Rumor has it the Knights maybe interested in a kid Zach Zech (?) in later rounds. Well see.
AA meet ZZ

Hopefully he is committed to coming here. The guy could be huge for us.
He was 4th in league scoring in the USHL. Must be college eligibility issues.
It would be too good to be true to just nab a player of his calibre completely out of left field. If so, major kudos again to Mark Hunter. What a ****ing steal this would be.
2 Goalies in the first 5 rounds? Herbst was obvious, but Hodgins is also very good. With Herbst being the goalie of the future, would it not have been better to fill the cupboards elsewhere? I guess they expect this guy to fill in after TT goes.
3 Goalies now and they know the value of net minders if they work out. Having this kind of stopper depth is a nice change instead of always trading in for others teams.
Hunter's would not have taken Watson, Gilmour has been very good with them and I doubt they want to wreck that working friendship. Mark doesn't do that stuff to yank their chains like some GM's do.
I for one not impressed with the Knights draft,3 goalies drafted,whats with that,after Houser leaves this year or next{they better hope after next}
do they think they are allowed to use 2 at once
As usual drafted small except for a couple D-men,
Last year I thought they did very well, small for the most part but skilled, this year i dont know
They are setup pretty well for this and next year, especially if Houser returns,in fact next year should be a run year
As for the year 2013/14 projecting forward, they look real upfront, however on the backend,I expect Mataa in the Nhl leaving Raine as the only D-man on this years club on the team,as an O/a no less and a couple young tenders
I thought they were high on Patterson, despite the fact he got jerked around in JrB,and the Wheaton kid from Windsor
So why take 3 tenders, and 1 in the 1st,the last time they did this it was zador and we all know what happened there
Hope this not zador 2.0 for the Knights
Unless they really build up the defence 2013-14 for hosting the mem cup mights be a pipes dream sorry for the pun
