Clearly, the instructions by Bettman to the referees aren't working. Again, as fans, we get way too upset over things. If you think calmly and rationally (not saying you aren't), you'll realize the league cannot affect how the teams do (even if they might want to).

There are two teams Bettman helps out in this league. The two teams he markets the most. The Craps and the Bettmans (aka Penguins). It's just far worse with the Bettmans than it is the Craps.
And still with all the help the Caps can't get anywhere in the playoffs... And the Pens have gone out early the last three years...

If NHL are helping the Caps and the Pens they are pretty damn incompetent at it!

How about more cherrypicking:

Cooke didn't face any suspension or fine for the hit on Savard. The league only started cracking down on him when he became a repeat offender.

But it's useless arguing with you, and your entire arrogant and delusional fanbase.

He moans about how unfairness and dirtiness in the games must be gone...throws a tantrum... but it's okay for his team to do whatever they want. Yet another team who knees, or slewfoots, or suckerpunches or spears will get fined and/or suspensions slapped onto their players. Double Standards. Pittsburgh's got em
The Penguins supported the Cooke suspension. He deserved it, maybe not for the hit on McDonagh in itself, but as a repeat offender certainly. I don't think many Pens fans had any issue with that decision by the NHL. And neither should you about the Tortorella fine. Nor the non-suspension on Orpik.

Cooke's hit on Svard wasn't illegal at the time, believe it or not. There were no rules against hitting the head of an opponent, and the hit weren't that late.

Altough of course it should have been lillegal, it wasn't at the time, and I think Bettman himself saif that he wanted to suspend Cooke, but had no rule to suspend him with.

1. It's widely known and accepted that Ovechkin often plays dirty and gets away with it

2. Cooke was suspended because he tried to end McDonagh's career the way he did to Savard

You're grabbin straws that ain't there. You're trying to catch smoke.

With your logic, Orpik deserves a suspension because he did this before. "Repeat Offender", mmm? Lots of Pburg fans were up in arms about it. Why should Torts be fined for speaking his mind to a New York based post? Keep trying though

So you're saying that if Pavel Datsyuk elbowed McDonagh like Cooke did, he would deserve a suspension? He lifted his elbow and targeted his head.

If you think that was an accident you are either a huge homer or have never played a day in your life. Disgraceful.

You can't suspend Orpik for an accidental play, even though he has been suspended before for hits that weren't accidents.

Don't you see the difference?

It doesn't matter who Tortorella speaks to. He's going public, and it's just a matter of time before stuff like that gets picked up by other broadcasters. What he says in the locker room is his business, what he says to the press, even if it is the local press, is another matter.

I've been saying this all season. The NHL's priorities really are ****ed up. How many times can I call this league a joke before I stop being a fan?

There was no "accident" Look how he stuck the knee out, bending. It's NY stuff. Howcome Cindy doesn't get fined then for calling Callahan the biggest whiner? Cally whines about nothing. It'll go public, remember

Well, the NHL and most of the press seems to agree with me... But of course they are all biased towards the Penguins...

Cooke shouldn't have been given all those games. He should have been banished from the NHL.

His knee doesn't move, he goes to hit with his shoulder. It's Stepan that moves and with unfortunate consequences. Even the Rangers commentators are having problems finding any illegal doings by Orpik.

Yes, because the press that is supposedly independent and objective would never ever cover for an outside entity.

That never happens.

And all Crosby said was that he "whines" about as much as Callahan, or something like that.

I don't think that is in any way compareable to Tortorellas rant.

So now it's not only the NHL, but the entire free press of North America?

This goes deeper than I expected...

The nhl consists of bettman pretty much bending to pittsburgh's demands. the press in pburg maybe. Lots of "press" don't agree with your skewed views
