So if we beat the Caps tomorrow night we win the President's trophy regardless of the outcome of the Canucks last game due to ROW tiebreaker?

That's correct. And it looks like St. Louis just eliminated itself from competition for the President's Trophy. They are 2 points behind us, with one game to go and we have the tiebreaker on them.

Just to remind people of the perfect scenario, since it seems no one is aware:

1. Lose to Washington
2. Vancouver loses to Edmonton
3. Florida loses to Carolina
4. St. Louis loses one of their two remaining games in regulation

If this happens, we play Florida in the first round and we win the Presidents' Trophy.

1. We guarantee home ice advantage throughout the playoffs.
2. We end the season winning, not losing, having upward momentum.
3. We are playing the team that we will likely face in the first round of the playoffs.
4. Last time we won the President's trophy we won the hole shebang.

So tell me, why wouldn't we go after the President's trophy with a win tomorrow? The team has busted their butts all year, they should deserve to hang their hat on something. I'd rather them go for the jugular and get this "meaningless" award than play un-focused just to rest players. You know like hell Torts will have his team ready to play tomorrow.

If you picked this scenario vs. two years ago our playoff hopes being on the stick of Olli Jokinen in the shootout, umm, I would pick this.

Even if we don't win the presidents trophy, I would not be against everyone "taking a game off" for tomorrow to increase our odds of facing Florida.

Problem is Carolina has only beaten Florida once. All Florida has to do is push the game into overtime and we could end up playing Ottawa.
