Cornwall moves on....and the Hawks played a very solid HOCKEY game tonight.
Bussey pocketed a beautiful short handed goal to tie the game 2-2. And all Remi Elie could do was hit players from behind, usually after the whistle. Cocky cheap shot artisit.
I had to look to see who was on the Hawks bench ?
To my suprise it was coach Anderson. That being said, GM Ian Henderson was not too far from the action. Perhaps the Hawks have a solid platform to build on for next year.
This was a very good hockey game and the Hawks should be proud of how they played their final game of the season.
But tonight, it is the Cornwall Colts moving on....
Nepean or PLK it does not matter. It will be a very good final series.
Good game last night in Pembroke. This is turning out to be quite an entertaining series.
Keefe, however, has to do something about his teams DISMAL PP. Nepean doesn't even care when they take penalties anymore as they know exactly what will happen. PLK defence will dump it in....fowards won't chase....and Nepean is free to clear it out. Rinse and repeat for 2 minutes and that is what Pembroke has looked like the last 3 games on the PP.
On a side not...the 3rd goal by Hodgson......beautiful shot.
Yes the power play for the PLK has not been the best this year. Perhaps the past 5 or 6 years has spoiled some fans. It's funny to hear all the old fans and some who have never played the game yell "shoot" every time a player has it on his stick. This playoff season the PLK have a better PP percentage then Nepean. They also have a better penalty kill as well. Should be a good game tonight.

The Elie kids is 16 years old. He will go further than any of your Colts players on the ice last night. He played amazing in the 3 games I saw him play in the C.P. series, and seemed to be frustrated in this series. I didn't see him do anything behind anybody's back more than anyone else on the ice.
If the Hawks would of played hockey this entire series, it could of been a different ending. The only difference was the Colts power play. I agree with you that It was nice to see Anderson quiet behind the bench for a change.
At least, the organization is on the right track.

There is no one doubt Elie has talent and he should move on this coming season to the OHL. However, if the London Knights reps were at the game last night, they would not be impressed with their asset.
Elie can play and can be a high impact player. That being said, Anderson has him playing like a goon. That is sad, very sad. I blame coach Anderson.
Go further than any Colt on the ice last night ? It is a long road and lots of things can happen. It also depends how you measure success.
There are numerous former OHL players that have no formal education and are playing in some men's beer league with a minimum wage job. A quality education is something to be cherished and valued.
Just because a player chooses the OHL over the NCAA option does not make them a a more talented player. Some players do not have a choice. Some do not have the academic acumen and must rely soley on their hockey playing abilities.
As we know, only a small percentage of OHL players make it to the show.
Hopefully, GM Ian Henderson takes charge of the situation and makes the required changes to keep the Hawks a contender.

Not to be a Colts apologist, but what do you mean by "go further"?
The Spinks and Baun have scholarships to Colgate. I would not consider playing for the London Knights going further than playing at a very good school like Colgate.

While I agree it is pretty hiliarious watching the old boosters yelling shoot every 2 seconds.....that is not the problem. The problem with their PP is simple, the defence dumps, but the fowards do not chase. I didn't see game 5 but in game 4 THREE PP's in a row PLK did not even have a shot on net. It was just dump it in, Nepean defence gets it behind the net and clears it out. This went on for 6 straight mins of PP.
Regardless....they have found a way to win so far this series and I'm very pumped for tonight's game.
Too bad game 7 had to be played on Sunday, a great match for sure. Still hopefully a large crowd. Cornwall just awaiting.
No forum for JRB but also a great series final, Casselman and Gatineau. Game 2 730 tonight in Casselman. Actually great hockey doubleheader.

What I meant by going further, is going further in hockey. I just think that is potential is higher than anyone on the ice in that series considering age, talent,... Obviously, many things can happened, like injuries, being drafted in a strong squad like London (it can be a good and a bad thing), teenage years!!! I agree with you that an education is very important and kids that actually can, should! But in reality, school just isn't for everyone.

I hope the final will be a great one!
I agree with you 100%. Elie is also a great kid. I have watched him develop from the Seaway Valley AA days and into the (Cumberland) Wild AAA team. He had to battle and nothing was given.
Remi has earned the right to play at the highest level and has the tools to go deep. It is not right what Anderson did to Elie during the playoffs. He should not be playing the goon role.
Nepean or PLK it does not matter. It will be a much different series than Colts vs. Hawks. It will be fast paced quality hockey being played.
well I haven't seen games like that in a long time between kings and neapean. The league should thank them because it brought out fans that haven't been in a while. Good luck to the teams left and the league better wish cornwall wins or there will be no fans at the fred page.I also think the sheldon should be coach of the year because he has never been with five championships and to put a team together with 17 new players should mean something.

If Cornwall wins sure you would have many fans at the Colts games but if Nepean wins you could have a greater reach market the event to Nepean minor hockey you could get a fair amount of fans.
If the 67's are still in the playoffs at FPC time.......you're not going to find as many fans coming out if Nepean makes it. If the 67s are out...you might have a few more people coming out.
From an economic standpoint for the FPC organizers.....it's better if Cornwall makes it.
From a personal perspective....I'd rather see Nepean

I am talking about the Nepean area some how tap into that area you very well could see a fair amount of kids go to the event as for Cornwall is a risk sure your going to get fans to the Colts games afdter that not so much.
Well I must congratulate the Raiders on advancing to meet the Colts....Won't be a hypocrite and say I wouldn't have rather seen PLK in there, but I will give credit where credit is due. The kids on both sides should be proud of their efforts. Should be a hell of a finals!
The big test comes now for the Raiders. So far they beat the 8th place team and took the 6th place team to 7 games...yes the PLK had Milley back and would have likely finished higher than 6th if they would have had him all season. The Raiders did not impress as the league number 1. Best of luck to both teams!!
