Big Screen?

Anyone know if they are bringing the Big Screen out for the playoffs this season? If so, where would they put it since the parking lot for the Mellon Arena is all fenced off.

good question. I hope they bring it back. I wonder if they'll even bother since they can't play any of the NBC games on it.

if I'm not mistaken isn't the first round or two usually on Versus? Gosh....I hate NBC with a passion, their announcers are the worst for each sport they broadcast

At least the first round is on Root, so I'm sure they'll be able to show those games.

Well...they can't use the same spot anymore. I haven't been to Uptown since they have started demo. Is there a spot in the upper parking lot or something?

i work a block away from the CEC and I honestly cant think of a place they can do it. My opinion for where it would be best at is maybe where the church is maybe or the one road I cant remember the name of it... By the American Eagle Entrance. Its not fifth but is like a little hill that can take you to the Verizon Entrance/ towards where the Mellon Arena was. I say close that road off since it wont really mess with traffic too much or the buses or whatever. Opinions?

I just remembered but I don't know if it was tried before but why couldn't the Penguins just air the CBC feed on the big screen since NBC has to be d#######

Couldn't air NBC games in the past... wonder if that will still be the case for NBC and now NBCSN under Comcast ownership?

NBC are a super-*****y bunch of *****es. I still don't watch any of their primetime shows since they screwed Lemeiux's charity, and I pirate anything I want to see on their USA network.

I thought NBC was covering every game this year, although I'd imagine that the first couple of rounds they'd just be running local broadcasts.

Maybe outside Verizon Gate and they'd shut down Centre Ave but that would seriously mess with the parking in those old Mellon Arena lots. I think some of them only have exits onto Centre. I wish they'd open up Consol for the away games. They could let everyone in for free and still make a fortune on concessions & parking alone.

They're definitely not. And I can't imagine what you said that got censored at the end.

I think they charged $5-10 and the proceeds went to the Mario Lemieux Foundation. Then NBC shut it down (in addition to the big screen) once they started broadcasting the games because it cut into their sponsors' audience ratings or some nonsense. I seem to remember it being some huge source of angst for Pens fans back then because people were pissed that: a) they couldn't gather to watch the games; and b) NBC was taking money away from a charity that supports kids with cancer.

o god i remember that....it was $5 per person to go into the mellon, I did it once. It was when we beat Detroit in 3OT, that was nuts in there. But ya the people at NBC have no souls, their money hungry and only care for their pockets. I just really wish we could somehow say middle finger to you NBC we are gonna air CBC for the playoffs

for home games they should do the outdoor screen synced to the jumbotron feed synced with Lange. Or just give Steigy and Errey megaphones

not much they can do for away games

The Pens must have made a hell of a donation to the Church. That yard will be all dirt by the end of the game 1.

They built the rectory on the property as a "sorry for putting an arena next to your church" gesture. Arrogant jerks.

This placement will make things interesting for people trying to enter at the AE gate.
