Who knows what would have happened on the play, but nobody has ever seen anything like that. I knew it was from the bench, for sure.’’ (on what the officials told him…) “They just didn’t see it, they said. That was all the explanation we got. … They’ve got a tough job, and it’s a fast game.’’ (on this being the strangest game of the season…) “Yeah, it was. The PK has been great all year, and tonight we gave up goals. It was a battle. It was quite the game. We’ve got to somehow regroup, and we need a win in San Jose.’’ (on going to San Jose for the season finale…) “It’s a battle, and we’re going to have to go in there and play a good road game, like we’ve done all year. We’ve played well on the road. We’ve won in tough buildings, and it’s no different in game 82. They got a little bit of momentum out of this game, but we’ll regroup tomorrow and we’ll get right back on the horse here and go into San Jose and play well."

But the good thing is we get them again on Saturday, so we’ve got that to look forward to.’’ (on his interference penalty…) “Clowe gave me a good bump there when he came in. I saw him coming in with some speed, so I just kind of put my hands up to defend myself a little bit. I gave him a little bit of a push as he was coming in, and they gave me the call. Obviously it’s my mistake. Ultimately, that’s probably the turning point in the game there, because they go on the power play and they score there, and it’s a one-goal game as opposed to a two-goal game. It’s a lot different, going into the third period down by one or down by two."

Our destiny lies in our own hands to some extent. If we beat San Jose, it gives us a good opportunity to win the division. I think if Phoenix wins two games in a row they got it [the division title], but our main focus is trying to get to that Pacific and home ice. It comes down to our last game.’’ (on the controversial play…) “I’m not sure how all four of them [officials] missed it… I don’t know. I don’t know what to tell you. They missed it and none of them said they saw it. I thought it was pretty evident, but when you’re in the game sometimes you aren’t going to see everything. It is what it is. We can’t sit there and dwell on it. We had plenty of opportunities on the power play. Our power play came up big. The PK wasn’t the strongest part of our game."

Unfortunately, we had the lead and we’ve got to keep it and not let them get back in the game. That’s the reason why we lost the game.’’ (on whether he knew, pregame, that the Kings had clinched a spot…) “No, I didn’t know beforehand that we had clinched, but we obviously found out right at the start of the first period. We’re obviously happy that we clinched, but we’ve still got a shot at that third place, and that’s all that we’re focusing on.’’ (on his fight with Joe Thornton…) “It was my first fight. I probably need to learn how to do it a little better but it was good to kind of get both teams going.’’ (on the Kings’ four power-play goals…) “In order to be successful in the playoffs, special teams are so important. You’re only getting one or two power plays per game and we need to score every time on them if we can. Today was a good start and I still think it has a lot of room for improvement."

The reason we only got one point was because the other team has probably (one of) the top two or three power plays in the league, and we spent a lot of time in the penalty box. If you add up all the minutes — and they didn’t score on three of them — you’re probably killing 15, 16 minutes. It’s almost impossible to beat a team like that.’’ (on whether Clifford deserved a major penalty…) “No. Did you look at it. He just (pushed him). Is that a penalty? It was a push.’’ (on being relieved to clinch a playoff spot…) “I don’t look at it as being relieved we made the playoffs. That’s why you play the game, right? I look at it as, that’s what you’re supposed to do.’’ (on the Doughty-Thornton fight…) “It was retaliation-retaliation, and away they go. Why not?"

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

LAST GDT of the Regular Season Kids ... BRING ON THE PLAYOFFS !

Clowe's to the left of me cheatin' jokers to the North. Here I am stuck in 7th & 8th in the West with you.

With Phoenix’s regulation victory over St. Louis, the Kings’ playoff picture has narrowed a bit. Phoenix has moved into first place in the Pacific Division, with 95 points (35 regulation/overtime wins), followed by the Kings (94 points, 34 ROW) and San Jose (94 points, 33 ROW). Tomorrow, the regular season ends. Minnesota hosts Phoenix at 5 p.m. Pacific time and San Jose hosts the Kings at 7:30 p.m. Given that the Coyotes play first, here are the scenarios for the Kings in terms of seeding…

If Phoenix beats Minnesota in regulation, overtime or a shootout two points — the Coyotes win the division. The winner of the Kings-Sharks game would finish seventh in the Western Conference.

If Phoenix loses to Minnesota in overtime or a shootout one point — the Kings would win the division if they beat San Jose in regulation or overtime. The Kings would finish seventh if they beat San Jose in a shootout, and eighth if they lost to San Jose.

If Phoenix loses to Minnesota in regulation zero points — the winner of the Kings-San Jose game would win the division. Phoenix would finish seventh and the loser of the Kings-San Jose game would finish eighth.

In terms of other seedings, Vancouver will finish in first place if it gets at least one point against Edmonton, or if St. Louis fails to get both points against Dallas. Chicago will finish sixth unless it beats Detroit in regulation, in which case Detroit would finish sixth.

Here's some recommended reading for Clowe in particular and the Sharks in general. Subtlety, man, try it!

After the Clowe incident, I heard one of my fellow Kings fan brethren state that “I’m ending it all as soon as I can”. I thought that he was going to do himself in and not what he actually did. He changed his last name from Clowe to King at around 10:15 this morning.

He told Judge Brown “I don’t want my last name associated with that San Jose Sharks clown any longer”.

The judge smiled and after it was all over took Mr. King aside and told him: “I can understand where you’re coming from, my friend. My last name used to be Avery.”

GO KINGS GO!!!!!!

I want Shark blood on the ice.

Last game hurt really bad, and I hope the Kings are ready to deal some payback. I'm not expecting the Sharks to get many borderline calls to go their way - the refs as a whole do not like being shown up or made to look bad. I bet you the only group as pissed about the Clowe incident as Kings fans are the referees.

Not sure if any of you listen to the podcast, Marek vs Wyshynski on iTunes, but it's a great podcast for hockey fans.

Anyways, today's show they talked about the whole Clowe incident and Jeff Marek who I really like as a hockey guy, said he feels from last game it actually helped the Kings more in a psychological way because now they're going to be really pissed off after what happened and that's exactly what a coach (Sutter) would want from his team. Being pissed off and having the "it's us vs them" mentality heading into this game and the playoffs.

We'll see what happens, but I hope he's right.

Winning the division would have helped the Kings psychologically as well.

Hopefully it does have that kind of impact, but to be so close to the Kings' first division title in 21 years and to have that kind of BS taint such an important game is going to haunt me personally for a long time.

True, but I think the players will be fired up and pissed off at the whole thing. It sucked, no doubt, but it could do wonders for them, at least I hope it does.
