Exactly. Just like when fans root for a win because it's in the team's best interest, they hope for a loss when it's best for the franchise.
What about those fans who were rooting for losses in the first month of the season, and were rooting for losses when we were on top of the conference/league in November/December? Wasn't it in our best interest to win those games?

Who wanted losses early in the season? who wanted losses when we were the top team? I'd like to see that...
When i look at the two guys flahr and GMCF have taken in the first it looks like they made good decisions, but there is no doubt that if we drafted 3 spots higher they might have done better. All i am saying is i wish we lost not thrown the game but just were not good enough to win. Drafting higher is bette, you get more options, options are nice.
Still with some luck we can draft 5th, and still get a good player.

No, because they were not for the long-term benefit of the franchise. That was the case in 2002-03, and it was the same this year. It's pretty commonly believed that 2002-03 was one of the worst things for this franchise over the long-haul. I didn't want a repeat because I could plainly see how the team wasn't close to being ready for consistent Cup contention.
And fancy that, those early wins fell far short of enough to win a Cup, and now they only serve to help trash draft position.

it wasnt the run it was the driver that ****ed us, DR screwed up the franchise. that year was a good setup to transform the franchise from a new kid on the block to a legit hockey team.
but not getting any FA's and busting 6 years in drafting kinda ****s you.
It's a draft lottery simulator. Just for fun I ran it 10 times and the winners I got were:
Montreal
Edmonton
Edmonton
Montreal
Columbus
Edmonton
Winnipeg
Columbus
Montreal
Edmonton
I kept trying it to see if I could get the Wild to win it but gave up after 40 tries. Even Winnipeg, Carolina, and Buffalo won it a few times but I couldn't get the Wild to win it even once. Looks like a good omen.

Stop right there! It's perfect now! You have just smartly destroyed other teams odds and Wild's lottery win is propably just behind the corner irl! Do not run the simulator no more!
That simulator is based on the end of last season.
How can it be based on the end of last season if Buffalo won it a couple times? As I recall playoff teams cannot win the lottery, only non-playoff teams have a shot at winning it.
I only note that based on their own 2010-2011 date.
I think that's just for the probability, not the teams involved. This year's lottery will use the same format as last year's so they probably just used the chart and whatnot from last year. There's no way Montreal could be winning it so much when they were in the playoffs last year.

Yeah you've rolled all the ones out of the dice for us. Were due for a 20.

And there you go...

I always thought the '03 playoff run was the most memorable thing in franchise history. Turns out it only ruined our draft position and screwed this team for years to come.

entirely untrue.
We took Brent Burns with the 20th pick that year. Got a ton of mileage out of him, turned him into an all-star defenseman from a forward, then got Devin Setoguchi, Charlie Coyle, and Zack Phillips out of trading him.
In fact I think we need to draft in the 20's more often
