First OT in the playoffs would be like the second period. The long change for each team.

I definitely agree with that, goaltending is gonna be a wild card in this serie. I have to go with the devils in 5 or 6 though. I think Florida is gonna have a hard time handling NJD's offensive depth over a 7 game series. The devils are also on a 5 games winning streak. I think they're coming into the playoffs with more momentum than the panthers. Like everyone else said, I won't be THAT surprised if the panthers upset the devils though. Should be an interesting serie for sure.

nope. 1st period of OT is the same as 2nd period of regulation. and they do switch every period of OT

I see the Panthers getting exposed in the playoffs. Hope I am wrong because I would love to see them shock the world and win a few rounds.

I was fortunate enough to be an intern with the Panthers during the 09-10 season and I wish them nothing but the best. Only other team I even pay much attention to. I hate to say but I don't see them getting out of the first round because they've been struggling so much lately. I really hope though for the fans and morale of the team that they're able to win easily tomorrow and lock up the 3 seed and open down at the BAC. Or ya know.....Washington loses. But I think it's big for the Panthers to play a really solid game tomorrow and go into the playoffs on a high note.

Florida's defence is better at scoring than New Jersey's defence is, and I am very worried about guys like Campbell, Kulikov, Jovanovski, and Garrison, who can all produce points from the back end. But for preventing goals, the Devils defenders are very good, probably a little better than their Panthers counterparts.

If we play the Rangers:

Rangers in 5.

Devils:

Devils in 6-7 games.

It's going to great to see Florida in the playoffs again but given their recent struggles I think they'll be a quick out in Round 1.

I disagree. Floridas defense gets a bad rap because of the teams goal differential, but that really has little to do with the blueliners themselves. The Panthers D is very good defensively too. Of all the guys you mentioned minus jovo, they are just as good defensively as they are offensively.

Also i think Garrison will play very good in the playoffs and so he can get a better contract this summer

I'd rather face Washington then Florida, their style creates problems with NJ.

I say New Jersey will win in five or six but I really hope Florida beats NJ.

Don't flatter yourself. Not only is it not a gutsy pick but I have heard it from plenty of people before you.

All I'm asking for is for us to win one game. Getting swept AGAIN, 12 years later, would be horrible.

Anyone can win in the playoffs

Both Montreal and Carolina went to the ECF not too many years ago and look what's happened to them since.

Detroit lost to Edmonton the first year of the post-lockout

ANYTHING can happen

Devs 4-1 maybe4-2.......could even sweep. NJ has three major weaknesses: Brodeur is very streaky at his age; they have very little depth but getting Zajac back should allow them to shift everyone down a line, and they have next to no offense from their defensemen. I have a feeling you are going to see a top notch Brodeur this time but their lack of scoring d will take them out after a round...maybe two...They are under the radar more than any other team.

if we play the devils i expect an awesome 6 or 7 game series. two similar teams. hotter goalie wins the series.

Lots of side stories, The Bore being fired, Madden the panther etc.

Would not factor in the last 10 games, anyone who follows sports long enuf realizes the irrelivance of limping in.

How bout this for a prediction, whatever goaltender posts the better sv% wins the series, it's that close.

Zidlicky has been great, Greene can contribute, Fayne and Larsson can put up the pts as well. They might surprise some people.

The Devils have Ilya Kovalchuk, a perennial Panther killer, plus much deeper talent... but you never know in the playoffs and the Panthers are a fighting team so I'm really hoping for an upset and the sky is the limit
