That's the problem, defenders are far more unpredictable and the two best defenders in this draft, Murray and Dumba, don't seem to be as highly regarded as Larsson was.

Plus with this draft's defensive depth there's a possibility of someone falling who might end up as good or better than the top picks, like Subban in 07.

For forwards anything is possible too, but you are more likely to find two way guys with questionable offensive upside, something we already have plenty of in the system. The few wild cards with high end skill like Teravainen might end up going in the top 10 this year.

Ideal scenario would be that Toronto wins tonight in regulation, while Edmonton wins in overtime, but I can't see that happening.

I'm expecting a shootout loss with the Oilers winning. Because that's the kind of year it's been.

Any team can beat another, didn't Columbus beat St-Louis recently? I'm all for it.

I hope we lose just to see TML out of the top 5! Also, I want to see Cole score to get his 35th of the season

I've fallen off the tank wagon. I'm content with 28th. We can give a lesson to the Leafs players (who I think still want to win) for next season... However, I won't cry if we lose...

GO HABS!!!!

If anyone thinks we're going to be in 29th at the end of the night, you're either high on psychedelic drugs, or you're an idiot. That's how sure I am that the Canucks are going to obliterate Edmonton.

A win tonight is good karma going into the draft lottery and there's nothing I like to see more than Leafs' Nation de-pants and embarrassed by a last place team. Our last place team. Send them into the summer with an awful taste in their mouth.

Subban pots 2 goals tonight.

I can't believe this will be the last Canadiens game we will see until September... man it's so far.

With the team we had this year we would have been out in 4 or 5 anyways..

The worst case scenario is the leafs making the bottom 5, then winning the lottery

Thus, even if Edmonton loses (and we knew that before hand), Toronto getting a point or perhaps 2 is actually quite important.

In a way, I am glad this season is finally over after tonight. Brutal to watch every game and see the Habs play this way. On the other hand, it's sad to know there won't be anymore Habs games for the next six months.

Actually it's 29th in this case, Edmonton has more ROW's.

I think that's what Naslund meant. We get bottom/top best/worst mixed up depending on perspectives on tanking. We can't be better than 28th in the standings, but we could be worse (like you said 29th).

You know most of leafs nation including the broadcaster AND Burke and co. are dying for Leafs reg. loss. I have to say, if they win this game or get bumped by getting a point (and ANA and NYI help the cause), it will be 100% meltdown for them.

I find it very hard to believe that after their last brainfart, Burke hasn't officially called in the loss.

Cole and the Habs don't tank. They might lose, but they have been a force pretty much every night, giving us heart attacks. Imagine if Markov had scored on that breakaway!!!

We will beat the leafs and I guess it'll be fun for a bit, but not so fun on tuesday. Even if they win the lottery in 7th, they still don't get Yakupov.

And I should say, if Leafs win, get 7th AND Edmonton wins, giving us 2nd, there is no way leafs can pick ahead of us even if they win the lottery.

As long as Leafs don't end up 26th, I'll feel better. They need a point at least.
OT: That Wings/Hawks game is wild right now.
