6 months until the next regular season game. TBH I need a bit of a break. This team was so frustrating to watch at times. Hopefully management can make some moves in the off season to get fans pumped up. I really hope we don't hear the injury excuse and they decide to stay the course with this group of players.
The cap situation simply won't allow Boyes..or Hecht either..to be re-signed. I wouldn't argue for re-signing Boyes in any event, but I've wondered all season why Boyes was relegated to the 3rd line while Gaustad was here (non-scoring set up), and then 4th line after Gaustad was replaced with Hodgson. Boyes was basically kept away from any chance of being an impact player for the entire season, with only spot duty on the PP as well. Not entirely defending him, but it really wouldn't matter what player you're talking about, with those assignments you'd be lucky to crack ten goals.
What a disappointing season. Really, really disappointing. I love playoff hockey.... I love it so much. I honestly would have given some sort of kidney or something to make it and at least have the opportunity to lose to the Rangers... God, the thought of 6 months without a meaningful hockey game is just heartwrenching.
Changes will be made. I'm sure of that. I think they will be very positive changes, and I'm looking forward to it. But even trades and signings can't measure up to real hockey, and in the coming months, when we're starving for real hockey, that will be obvious.
??? How.... 2001-2002 - 85 points 2002-03 - 72 points 03-04 - 85 points..... we had 89 points this year...sooooooo no it wasn't THAT bad, OR is this just opinionated? Feeling its just an opinion
Because from 2001-2004 it was expected they were going to suck. Those teams just had no talent. This team wasn't supposed to suck, and they were far more disappointing than any of the teams in the early 2000's.
