If this makes Darcy even THINK about re-signing Boyes, he might as well quit on the spot.

Sometimes, it's the rotten taste in a team's mouth that spurs them to better results.

Let's hope the taste is so bitter that the thought of this past season really pisses off the players in this organization.

6 months until the next regular season game. TBH I need a bit of a break. This team was so frustrating to watch at times. Hopefully management can make some moves in the off season to get fans pumped up. I really hope we don't hear the injury excuse and they decide to stay the course with this group of players.

This season:

The "good" was pretty good...

The "bad" was bad

And the ugly? It was often quite ooooooogly.

And Kevin Sylvester SUCKS!

I would keep Boyes for another season if it guaranteed we traded SYLVESTER!

I must have OCD, because I was really hoping Stafford would score INSTEAD of Pemmers.

Why?

Because then Stafford would have 21, Vanek 26 and Pommers 29.

The cap situation simply won't allow Boyes..or Hecht either..to be re-signed. I wouldn't argue for re-signing Boyes in any event, but I've wondered all season why Boyes was relegated to the 3rd line while Gaustad was here (non-scoring set up), and then 4th line after Gaustad was replaced with Hodgson. Boyes was basically kept away from any chance of being an impact player for the entire season, with only spot duty on the PP as well. Not entirely defending him, but it really wouldn't matter what player you're talking about, with those assignments you'd be lucky to crack ten goals.

Why the hell would we get rid of Roy, Leino, and Vanek.

Who do you suggest we replace them with?
Addition by subtraction? Your logic makes no sense

What a disappointing season. Really, really disappointing. I love playoff hockey.... I love it so much. I honestly would have given some sort of kidney or something to make it and at least have the opportunity to lose to the Rangers... God, the thought of 6 months without a meaningful hockey game is just heartwrenching.

Changes will be made. I'm sure of that. I think they will be very positive changes, and I'm looking forward to it. But even trades and signings can't measure up to real hockey, and in the coming months, when we're starving for real hockey, that will be obvious.

Sigh. There's always next year

I'm not saying replace them with Amerks or anything...

Roy (and Vanek to perhaps a lesser degree) would probably fetch a very nice return, and yes, Leino would be addition be subtraction..

Point is, we could free up nearly 15 million dollars in cap space (depending on who comes the other way), money that could be used to further improve the team.

How does that make "no sense"?

no one is gonna take Leino. we're stuck with him and we gotta pray he plays better next year. His production was half of what they were expecting of him.

Maybe Leino needs his number 22 back to get his mojo back

This game was a perfect illustration of our season, getting a loser point after being 2 goals up in a game we were better off not showing up for.

It also shows us that Boyes is only useful at garbage time.

Maybe not the worst record, but the worst season since 86-87.

Because from 2001-2004 it was expected they were going to suck. Those teams just had no talent. This team wasn't supposed to suck, and they were far more disappointing than any of the teams in the early 2000's.

With the bankruptcy group of 02-03, I think people were content that they finished a season.

The amount of hype for this past season in my memory was last matched when Bowman arrived for 79-80

"The Best is Yet to Come"... who is old enough to remember that slogan?
