Just looking at the scoreboard and noticed that Saint John won BIG again tonight... 10-2. That is 53 goals for, 13 against in 6 games; an average score of basically 9-2.
The first round of the Q playoffs is a bit of a joke with 16 teams out of 17 making it, but Baie-Comeau isn't that bad compared to Cape Breton.
Remparts win in OT on a controversial play as the ref didn't blow the whistle as players were scrambling in the crease, puck got loose and Remparts scored. Halifax coach and players throwing water bottles onto the ice.
Apparently Phillips and Coyle are averaging 7 points per game...well just under 7 points. Is the competition that bad?
Saint John is that good and the opposition is that bad, so no surprise they're lighting it up. Cape-Breton have some good young players but can't rival by any means with Saint John. Baie-Comeau made a huge upset beating Victo in the first round but have no business being on the same ice as Saint John in the playoffs.
Sea Dogs didn't have that great a year ... doesn't sound right since they finished first and everything ... but Huberdeau struggled with injuries to start the season, Galiev was out, Coyle came on late in the year. They made a couple of deals during the year so, Saint John is putting it together and just keep on rolling over anyone on their way.
The bulk of Saint John's losses came during the NHL camps, WJC camps, and WJC tournament. I don't know how many they lost outside of those tournaments, but I THINK they can be counted on one hand. (Quick, half-assed, count is 6)
Also, Galiev coming back into the top 6 is huge. He's just fantastic.
Was at the last two oil kings games. In my opinion the game was much further out of reach than the score indicated. Oil kings won every race to the puck, spent the whole game in brandon's zone. Brandon would only get shots off a rush, they weren't able to set up in the OK zone at all. Again, just my opinion but I don't see stone as anything special either. He creates no offense, just floats around the offensive zone waiting for a pass. The OK didn't need to shut him down, just needed to shut down everyone else on that line so they can't get him the puck
You have to feel bad for MacKinnon right now. The kid plays an awesome game (2 goals and 1 assist) but with 40 seconds left and his team up 3-2, he sends the puck in the stands. Quebec scores with 20 seconds left and wins it in OT.

Grudge match in PDX tonight. Portland took a lead in the last minute of the 2nd and then scored two quick goals in the beginning of the third. Was a nasty physical game that the refs probably lost a bit of control of. Very entertaining game with lots of back and forth play. Looks like the old Portland/Kamloops rivalry isn't quite dead yet.
Refs are bad, end of the story. Moose had 3 uncalled too many men penalties during the game and one of them was a minute before the winning goal and it wasn't even close.
Pretty intense game in Edmonton right now. 4-3 Oil Kings over Brandon heading into the 2nd intermission.
Was an excellent game. Brandon looked bigger and tougher but man the Oil Kings have so much skill. Pelss looked great, really coming along for a 7th round pick. Also Curtis Lazar is gonna be a star.
but then you'd come up with some asinine conclusion that either one is better than Huberdeau. It's still misleading. Good on them, though. Clearly a good move by Gallant to put Galiev up on that line. He deserved a better fate than the one he received during his NHL tenure.
