My mom and I were at the game today. Afterwards, she said "The Sabres were so close." She meant they were close to winning the game, but it made me think that overall, in terms of the season, we weren't close to anything. We didn't even make the playoffs, let alone do anything in the playoffs. The season was a failure. While maybe I am just sipping too much Pegul-aid, I hope the front office treats this season like a failure.
Out all day due to family gatherings... I suppose I'll fire this up for a laugh.
While watching, just keep in mind, this is the last time you will see Boyes and possibly Roy in a Sabres jersey. So keep some tissues next to your chair in case you get the sniffles.

I assume you mean chain will be crying tears of joy?
Ugly: Boyes finishes with the same amount of goals, and only 2 less assists than Leino, despite playing on the 4th line all season with limited ice time. I'd rather have Boyes for 5 more seasons at 4.5 million then Leino. That's how bad Leino has been.
This game was a perfect illustration of our season, getting a loser point after being 2 goals up in a game we were better off not showing up for.
It also shows us that Boyes is only useful at garbage time.
Maybe it shows that Boyes would've been useful if Ruff had EVER put him on a scoring line more than ONCE ALL SEASON. Seriously, Boyes NEVER played on the 1st or 2nd line all season long. He played 3rd line with Gaustad (not a scoring line then), and then after Hodgson was here Boyes was assigned as the 4th line C. Is there any player on the roster that would've cracked ten goals playing those minutes the whole season?
Don't get me wrong, Boyes (and Hecht) have to go, but he was simply buried with no real chance to produce. The only bone he was thrown was PP time in Nov before he hurt his knee, and he scored a couple goals in that duty. This is less a defending of Boyes as it is a criticism of Ruff for not getting more out of the roster. Tell me Tropp should've played wing with Vanek and Hodgson the last six weeks instead of Boyes. Screw the 4th line, because that line should've only been playing 5-6 mins a night down the stretch anyway.
