Have folks realized yet that they are not tomahawking, more like doing hockey's universal signal for a goal? They are taunting Rollie, it has nothing to do with the Braves, or Atlanta.
When someone screws up, or does something dumb, especially at a party, people do the tomahawk thing and chant ******* to whoever did. I'm sure thats what they were doing. Especially since 'peg is pretty much a college atmosphere crowd
There's no hidden message to Atlanta. Come on people.
Must be a Canadian party thing. And college kids can afford $350 tickets?

I've never been in university, but I remember first going to high-school hockey games as a kid and being told that the correct way to do a goalie name taunt was the arm thing... it's not related to Atlanta at all. And Jets fans at MTS Centre have been doing it all year.
ETA: But yeah, there are tons of university students at the games. Mostly upper-bowl in the $90-range tickets, but all over really.
It's not random. I mean it's the ref's signal for "goal" for chrissakes! On top of that, it's probably the #1 most common fan cheer in college hockey, usually accompanied with "Sieve!" rather than the goalie's name.
Nah, I don't live in Canada. Pretty damn close though ha.
And no, I'm just saying the type of crowd they have in there is a college sport type of crowd. United, really into it with chants and such.
Ah I got it now, makes more sense. Sorry bout that.

Now that I think about it, I think I've seen a few people do it. Cool that they got everyone to do it.
I laughed when they did that, they were just trying to get under his skin after he gave up the tying goal. May have been his last game, fitting he got another ROLI chant! Nice and loud too!
And the Bolts won, that's all he cares about anyway, so it's all good.
Have people seriously never jeered an opposition goalie like this before?
This. I'd say at least 90% of my high school hockey games (when there was actually a crowd) the fans of one team or another would chant the goalies name and chop at him after letting in a goal.
It's weird, but I never seem to catch this type of thing working. You'd figure it would given their home record. In this case Roloson made a solid save at the start of OT (right after the chants), and the Lightning won soon after.
The Stamkos booing didn't stop him from getting 60, either.
It's not a chop, they're just directing their hands at him over and over ... like putting bad mojo on him.
I understand. Being from the south, however, and being exposed to the Braves and FSU for years, it's the exact same motion and will always be referred to as the chop. Kind of like how people call all copy machines "Xerox machines," even if they're made by a different company. Just a habit that can never be broken.
