Neely vs. Shanahan

Who would you take if injuries weren't an issue?

why wouldn't injuries be an issue?

why should Shanahan be punished for taking care of himself?

I think Neely was pretty clearly the better "per game" player, but the way he played was a big cause of his injuries and I don't see why we should ignore that.

Shanahan for sure. He could give it and take it.

Did you even watch Neely play? He was a monster. Him and Shanahan would've been one helluva fight.

I'll take Neely, though. He was a better goal scorer.

The way he played? Don't you mean the way Ulf Samuelsson played when he took out his knee?

Tocchet says hello. Neely was a better goal-scorer although he never hit 100 points in a season like Tocchet did. In addition, Tocchet was a better and more feared fighter.

Neely was a mile better than Tocchet at his peak.

I'll take the guy who scored 50 goals in 44 games.

If you think Neely could throw em better than Tocchet, you're crazy. Tocchet certainly had the edge there.

Uhhhh, I never said anything like that??? I responded to your post about not agreeing that Tocchet was the better fighter.

Cam Neely was a hero as a kid and is one of my favorite athletes of all time but Shanny was real good. Too tough to call, with Neely it's always going to be about what could have been.

God I miss players like Tocchet, Neely and Shanahan. 50 goal scorers who were tough as nails. We may never see it again. The 80's and 90's were a great time for power forwards.

Without injuries this poll is obviously going to Neely. The problem is that he couldnt stay healthy whereas Shanny never had injury problems really.

Its not like Shanny was a slouch in the goal scoring department or the toughness department either

I'm too damn young to recall Neely so I'm voting Shanahan simply because I've watched him and can say I'd like him on my team.
