I don't mind this loss too much (other than losing to the cheaters up north).
I wanted to win the division, but since that wasn't possible, I'd rather play Vancouver and get a chance to redeem our playoff loss from 2 seasons ago than to play boring-ass St. Louis.
It's silly for all of you who are complaining that we backed into 8th place. We are 2 points from 3rd. If 1 or 2 points makes you all ***** about Lombardi's failure to improve each year, I have news for you.

We lost 3-2 in the first game, dominated the second game, won the 3rd one in a shootout, and lost 1-0 in the last one. Who's to say the Kings have no chance at pulling an upset? Oh, that's right, their confidence!
Quick has his playoff-deer-in-headlights look going early this year. That's wonderful.
This team hasn't learned **** in the last three seasons.
wow my dear mod, cry me a river. For ****s sake, this Kings team seemed done before the Johnson-Carter trade but came back and was one of the best teams post trade deadline. Without Carter and with a healthy scratch getting 1st line minutes we lost to SJ in the god darn shootout and in OT. Have some confidence.
This is three seasons in a row the Kings have backed in the playoffs. The last two seasons the ability to get home ice/win the division was in their control going into the last two games and they've lost all four. ****ing pathetic.
This team is ripe to get steamrolled.
That sums it up.
The team is at least healthy this year, so that willl help - but Quick is looking very human after all...
At the risk of looking like a sore loser, there really is no team that dives more than the Sharks. I realize Doughty and Brown are no saints, and every team does to some extent, but the Sharks are on a whole different level. And nobody else seems to notice.
I think DD wanted Vancouver, based on how he played tonight.
I gotta admit it, during the 2nd intermission I was looking up hotels in St. Louis and had the page ready to go to buy Cardinals-Cubs tickets for Friday afternoon. I was really pumped up.
Sorry if that was a jinx, I am still very sad that the Kings had 5 potential first round opponents last week and I was going to be able to go to 4 of those 5 cities, and ofcourse they end up the one place I won't be able to.

This team has very little mental strength and the ability to elevate their games when needed. I expect them as usual to make for some interesting games against the Canucks but eventually fold when things get real. I'll still be cheering but I expect some major changes in the offseason.

going off just memory, in the early 80's the way more talented oilers had this same problem and took years to get it right, its not just mental strength its learning to win, not taking that extra push against the boards, taking the body instead of poke checking, etc., we will be fine as soon as some of those bounces go our way. Name any bounce this year that goes in for us, any replay that goes our way, hell its just one of those years and we still made the playoffs and we have a very battle tested coach this time and we have mike richards to help lead the way............................the really bright side is one of the sisters is questionable and the other is a mere mortal without the other half of his brain on the ice, so playing them now is better than if we got them in a later round.......here we go boys......GO KINGS GO
Congrats to San Jose, who "won" the chance to play the Blues - a team they went 0-4 on in the regular season and scored 3 goals in 110 shots over 4 games. Bravo.
The Blues must feel like it's Christmas in April.

It would have been nice to see as many wins as losses in the regular season, everything else aside.
The kings arent the only sub .500 team in the playoffs. Florida was likewise 2 games below .500 - and they also made it it thanks to their enormous number of OT-loss points.

1. Quick was not as sharp in the shootout this year for some reason... ?
2. The Kings just don't score late 3rd period goals (for some reason)
I know most of the negative talk can be put on the fact the comments were made right after another tight loss to our beloved sharks, but seriously let's just watch what happens now on before anyone gives up on this team. And bashing nucks fans is just stupid.
We can beat the nucks as we have done in the regular season if we play like we did previously to the last two games, play hard with intensity and tighten up on defence. Also Richards igniting and Carter being 100% healthy wouldn't mind.
Anyways I do believe, maybe it's because of the fact that my favorite team in the Finnish Elite League made the finals last year as the last seed and this year they are in the semifinals as we speak again as the 8th seed, they just overcame 3-0 deficit in the quarterfinals and won 4-3 against the regular season champions. It gives me hope regarding the Kings.
Luckily school has just ended for me this year so I can wake up at 5:30 am for every Kings playoff game Bring it on!

Thanks for saying this.
I don't think enough of us can say positive things. I mean our team fought back from next to impossible odds to make the playoffs and yet so many people here doubt that we have any chance for winning this series.
Not to mention that we have been playing better hockey all of the time and will have Carter back in the line up too.
It makes me start to lose a little faith in my fellow fans at times but it is all good. There will still be room for people who don't think we can make it on the bandwaggon once the series is over.
