I honestly don't remember if there was one of these last year, but I figured hey, why not do one for this year? So we can keep a thread going for talking about all the matchups... and maybe cry a bit because we're not in it. But mostly the talking thing.
Western Quarters:
1. VAN vs 8. LA
2. STL vs 7. SJ
3. PHX vs 6. CHI
4. NSH vs 5. DET
Eastern Quarters
1. NYR vs 8. OTT
2. BOS vs 7. WSH
3. FLO vs 6. NJ
4. PIT vs 5. PHI
My predictions?
West: Canucks in 6, Blues in 7, Hawks in 7, Preds in 7
East: Rangers in 5, Caps in 7, Devils in 7, Flyers in 7
Kings in 7. I really think they are the perfect match-up against Vancouver since they are scoring goals now.
I agree, I don't see why everyone is predicting the Canucks are going all the way again. LA is probably one of the toughest match ups for them in the West, they are big, physical and got depth, and great D and goaltending much like Boston last year. Sedin is out and the 2nd line has been awful for the Canucks, this team is not the same as last year. First round upset for LA.
The rest:
West: Nashville in 7, Phoenix in 7, SJ, in 6
East: Rangers in 5, Boston in 7, NJ in 5, Pitts in 6
I'm not going to be surprised if the Canucks take out the Kings, but if that happens, I am seriously hoping that the Blues knock out SJ and the Hawks knock out Phoenix so we can have a Blackhawks/Canucks semi-final.
Well my Stanley cup predictions are just about shot..Although I do enjoy watching the Canucks lose, and very surprised in the terrible play of fleury.
shoulda replaced MAF when it was 3-1, he was obviously fighting the puck even more tonight than the previous 2 games.
Bryz is lucky MAF has played so horribly, or he'd be raked over the coals for his play thus far. I definitely can't see the Flyers making it past the 2nd round if they get matched up with Boston.
