Me neither, although the stats say they weren't entirely unproductive as part of the same unit. I've suggested Gionta be put with MaxPac and DD if anywhere, which leaves Cole with Plekanec and a hole at LW in the top 6. Would prefer to NOT slide Gomez in there, if possible, but morbidly curious about the option if he's still somehow stuck with us.
Parise - Plekanec - Cole... make it happen.
MaxPac - DD - Gionta
Bourque - Eller - Leblanc
Moen - White - Blunden/Staubitz
I'd personally let Moen walk this year (unless he signs for equal to or less than his current price), and get rid of Gomez, Gionta, and Bourque as well, but realistically (and unfortunately) Gionta and Bourque aren't going anywhere.
Say you get rid of Bourque and Gionta, and Moen leaves. Parise doesn't sign.
I think it all comes down to his role on the team next year when the new coach arrives and how he decides to spread out the wingers. This year, DD was identified as our number one center, and we've been top heavy all year. Our next coach might want to break up Pacioretty and Cole.
If he's the 1st line center, I expect maybe something like this: Gionta-Plekanec-Pacioretty. On the second line: Cole-Plekanec-Bourque would be great assuming Bourque can rebound, in fact that could be a fantastic dark horse line.
Gionta- Pleky- Bourque (maybe Parise. let's all hope :p )
Leblanc- Eller- X
Moen- White- Staubitz
I don't want to seem to be a hater, but i really don't see Eller having a future with the habs. He will turn out to be a great player, but he just can't be a good 3rd line center for the habs. We need a kind of 3rd line center more like Max Talbot.
nice player ...but how many more fken years do you want to go with his 50-55 points and we stink in the end crap
if we are to move in the right direction ...Pleks and DD cant be your 1-2 period
you cant win squat with these 2 guys down the middle , name one contender with this duo down the middle ??? NONE
this team needs an overhaul of the top 6 period ....
Gio, nice guy but at 33 time to go
his 20-25 goals are replaceable if we are prepared to play Eller and Leblanc and give them legit top 6 minuts and pp time .
but cmom folks , Gio, Pleks, Gomez , need to go to move forward
you can buy time with the midget for one more year , but not long term
Really? Get rid of our best two player who has played with 3 and 4 th liners almost all year and still managed to get over 50 pts? Best penalty killer on a top rated unit. Im not the biggest Plekanec guy but this guy is one hell of a players. Putting Pleks in any sentence with GOmez is down right dumb
A Leblanc-Eller second line will really need a sandpaper guy like Moen to make it effective when they're given defensive responsibilities (i.e when they're not producing offensively).

Why would I "say Parise isn't signed", when my post clearly starts out with acquiring Parise as a preface for absolutely everything that followed? A potential top line LWer has to be acquired to allow the possibility of any of the other lines.
As if you'd suggest that I believe Palushaj and Leblanc in the top 6 next year makes any sense, lol. Or that this year's draft pick AND Gallagher will BOTH make the team. Or that Blunden would be moved over to the left side of White-Staubitz. I mean... come on man. Are YOU serious??
Montreal trades Brian Gionta and yannick weber to Min for Kyle Brodziak and their 2nd round pick 2012.
Montreal trades Lars Eller, Rafael Diaz, Aaron Palushaj, First round pick 2013 to Colombus for Rick Nash and 2nd round pick 2013.
Montreal sing defencman Shane O'brien.
Montreal sing travis Moen.
Montreal sing Brad Staubitz.
Kaberle retires for his new children.
Montreal got - three 2nd round pick in 2012 draft
- four 2nd round pick 2013 draft
Next year :
Pacc - D.D - Nash Gallagher - Plekanec - Cole (Cole will have an impact on Gall ! Book it)
Bourque - Brodziak - Geoffrion
Moen - White - Staubitz
Darche

1. Montreal trades
2. Kyle Brodziak and their 2nd round pick
3. Palushaj
4. Columbus
5. signs
6. defenceman
7. retires
8. three
9. Plekanec
10. Geoffrion
11. Emelin
He's unlikely to be a top-6 forward at 18, and very unlikely to be able to play Plekanec-type defensive minutes. Could see him slotting next to DD and bumping MaxPac up though.
Unlikely to be a top-6 forward at 18? I can't think of a time the first overall pick didn't start the season in the top 6.
X - Plekanec - X
Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Moen - Eller - Gionta
X - White - Staubitz
What I would do:
- Sign/Aquire a tough customer for the 4th line (ex: Cody McLeod)
- Sign/Aquire one legit top 6 winger to play with Plekanec (Winning the loterry would help in that case (Yakupov))
- Sign/Aquire another top 6 winger to play with Plekanec
For the Defense:
Gorges - Subban
X - Diaz
Markov - Emelin
Sign/Aquire a legit top 4 Dman (ex: Suter)
Sign/Aquire a veteran physical Dman as a 5/6/7th Dman

Okay, so even if we sign Parise. That doesn't make our lineup that much better. We have no depth if someone gets hurt. Say Parise signed, gets hurt 15 games in, .. thats what our lineup would look like.
Why do people want us to get Parise? We've tried the Smurf strategy and it didn't work... didn't we learn this lesson already? Why do people want to buy tickets to the same old movie with the sad ending?

Because calling a player of Parise's abilities a smurf is like ragging on Crosby for being a sub 6 foot center. It completely misses the point.
think 48 pts in an 82 game season locks it up?
Keep Gomez and Kaberle in the line up and massage the rest to suit.
For a sure-fire result hire Gauthier as a part-time consultant in order to make sure we get it right.
