The Blue Jays ran into another outstanding starting pitching effort today but still managed to triumph in another extra innings contest. Lots of resilience on this club.
Morrow had a really good start and Lawrie had a big afternoon -- nice defence, three hits and two ribbies.
So... it's a long time before next season, anyone know of good books to read? Any genre. Wasn't sure where to post this, so if it's inappropriate my apologies.

I just finished reading Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy and would recommend it.

The Dragon Tattoo trilogy is....interesting. Mreally really good at times, but sometimes the detail is suffocating. I'm a big fan of Vince Flynn novels. Mindless, well written rah rah USA books about a CIA operative.

Ernest Hemingway. For Whom the Bell Tolls.
If theres a better written book and story by anybody I haven't seen it.
Hemingway is famous for a reason and lots of his work is just miles above anything done since. His stories, themes, and characters stand the test of time as the human archetype and interaction essentially remains unchanged.
Coors Light Iced Tea... its weird. Its like Coors light (which tastes like nothing) and with a hint of iced tea after taste
To me it tasted like taking a glass of water and adding a couple scoops(too many) of that powder iced tea and then pissing in it.
If you actually want to try a decent tasting "tea" beer. Go find yourself a can of MillStreets Lemon Tea Ale. I assume that most people who just drink big brewery beer will think that Coors is the first one to release a Tea beer.

Yeah it was a really good game on Saturday afternoon. Too bad the long ball kept them from a sweep.
Also feel bad for Santos. Didn't get the save on Thursday because Perez jumped the gun and was too excited to get out on the field. Then Saturday he record the blown save on a pitch that I felt was well placed. Some guys(like Bautista) can nail high pitches but that one was around the letters and Cabrera made the swing look easy.

Do you like sports autobiographys? I read Andre Agassi's Open, and was absolutely blown away. You don't have to be a tennis fan to like it. One of the best autobiography I have ever read. Easily the most engaging. Highly recommend it.

I'll read anything.... lol, Chapters doesn't even know what to recommend.
thanks for the suggestions, just added some new books to my list! Hopefully there are others who are looking for a good read so absolutely anything is welcome.
Currently reading Champlain's Dream (history) by David Hackett Fischer.. it said it was a 'must have' for every Canadian.. so ... It's actually pretty good..
Loved Life of Pi and the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series.
Thanks again
thought I'd add some less talked about books
The Journeyer by Gary Jennings, his version of events based on Marco Polo
Adrift, Steve Callahan, true story: survival of a fella forced into a liferaft from his sailboat for 76 days.
Papillon, Henri Charriere, (if even part of this is true it's amazing), true story of a convict from France and his escapes from early 20th century prisons in the tropics.

Anyway, Santos had a meltdown but the Blue Jays' bats are slumbering - Bautista in particular is swinging the bat poorly - tonight's game should have never gotten to that point. Back to the drawing board and the batting cage, boys.

The Alchemist by Paulo Cohelo is good. I definitely recommend it.
As previously suggested, Life of Pi is good too.
I don't know that I have seen a better opening to a show than the one Californication puts out there. Pretty much watched the whole first season in one night. Who said hangovers don't accomplish anything?

Told you that show kicked ass.
Did you see the latest episode of EB&D? Definitely a bounce back episode except the last 5 minutes sucked hard. Felt like it was the series finale. Not sure what they have in store next week.

Yeah it's only 4 games in so they have lots of time to get their **** together.
As for Santos, like I said earlier I don't blame him for the blown save on Saturday and he got screwed out of a save last Thursday. But yeah last night it was all him. Goes to show that your defense and pitching can carry your team for 8 innings but at the end of the night it just wasn't enough to win the ball game. They gotta have all hands on deck early. Hopefully they can work out the kinks rather quickly.

Ya EB&D was pretty good, they needed to get back to the field a couple episodes ago. I can see already they are trying to line up the ending for some sort of fairy tale ending.
Stevie's hair and brows is a funny side angle now too.

Yeah I spit my drink out of my mouth when I saw his first wig and glued on eyebrows.
While Kenny attempts to handle the current path his life seems to be taking, an unanticipated and auspicious turn of events changes the future he was certain he had as a Minor League pitcher with the Myrtle Beach Mermen.
This is the preview for next weeks episode. My guess is that Kenny is back to playing some good ball and is going to get called up to the majors and then he suffers a career ending injury of some sort. Or maybe take the Majors out of it because that would be beyond nonsense, but I do agree with the fairy tale ending you talk about and I would think that's how they would go about it. Or he could just have a career ending injury and quits baseball to be with April and raise his kid, that actually sounds closer to the writing I've come to expect this season.
Anyone know what is up with the Office, if they will be back for another year or not? I read something a month ago or so that there will be a spin-off with Dwight sometime in 2013, but nothing real official.

My favourite book is The Road by Cormac McCarthy (lots of people don't like it though) A post apocalyptic novel about a father and son and their struggles.
If you are into fantasy I would recommend The A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin. Or The First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombe. The First Law trilogy is an easier read and at times more enjoyable where as A Song of Ice and fire Series is a lot more in depth and fleshed out (also sort of dry at times).
If fantasy isn't your thing, which is udnerstandable, it isn't everyones. Some other books I loved:
Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden. Just an incredible novel. Follows the story of two aboroginal Canadians through the first World War. Really a powerful piece of literature.
World War Z by Max Brooks. A zombie novel, that is constructed as a series of interviews chronicling the zombie outbreak, how it began, how the world responded ect. A fun novel for sure.
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. A Spanish novel set in Barcelona post Spanish civil-war. Really a fascinating mystery/gothic novel.
A couple others I have read recently for pleasure: The Sister Brothers by Patrick deWitt, a Western focusing on two gun-for-hire brothers. Excellent quick read that is nicely unconventional. And also The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. This one was a re-telling of the Illiad, but at the same time perhaps more specifically a love story between Patroclus (the 1st person narrator) and Achilles. Definitely an interesting take on the legend of Achilles. A little dry at times and takes awhile to get going, but once it does I really loved it.
