Agree 100%. Let's just **** and see. Can't be worst. Man I sometimes hate Habs fans, they complain for everything and nothing.

I actually think it's a good thing because Savard has already been the GM of this team (so he has the experience and he knows what it is to be GM of the Habs, he also won two cups !!). He will be able to give advice to the next GM.. it's not like it was a random dude coming up...

Again, good decision, not a great one tho (since it has been a long time he doesn't have a NHL job).

Why is this reminding me of the transition phase the Leafs went through. This move being our Cliff Fletcher.

What do you think Savard had been doing the past 20 years........Sitting in a hospital ******** his pants.
He is only 66 years old. I dont think he is out of touch with the "new NHL"

Just like that time Gauthier was made GM, and then the Gomez trade. We are so dumb.

Holy overreaction. Have we ever heard about a vice president in Montreal?

This is more like Molson surrounding himself with a very important member of this organization's history. I don't expect Savard to interfere and make decisions for the new GM. Savard has always been a leader and part of winning teams as a player and GM.

This is good news.

Edit: And those who are scared about Savard interfering with the GM's decision, the day of Gauthier's firing when asked what he thought about him being the new GM, he clearly stated that he wouldn't interview himself and he wasn't interested at all in the job.

Cliff fletcher was best GM they had in last decade. He actually got rid of the country club and started the movement.

Maybe Molson hired Savard so that he can FIRE SAVARD.

With the 3rd overall pick, the Montreal Canadiens are proud to select, from the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the QMJHL, a native Quebecer... Charles Hudon!

I think that Geoff Molson has no real clue what he is doing when it comes to the Habs. we just got rid of Jurassic park and are we now getting ready for the sequel? Sequels are usually always worse.

No joke, had he stayed I'm sure he woud have done better than Burke.

His only mistake was Finger (but what a mistake O_o)

Yeah, it's pretty much because Molson has no experience nor enough knowledge to evaluate a GM. Savard is there so that when a Gomez move is made, the Kaberle move won't happen

I don't really care, as long as he doesn't make decisions that affect who plays for this club.

If he stays out of it and let's the GM do his job, alright. But if he's going to be the one giving orders to the GM, this could potential be horrible.

I'll wait and give this move a chance. The way I see it, Geoff Molson is surrounding himself with people he clearly trusts.

Why?

I don't particulary like this move, but... why? Has he run over your dog or something?

I can see people not like that, but to stop being a fan of a team because of the guy that will be a freaking senior VP?

Molson has been meeting with Savard for a months now. Savard's fingerprints are already on many of the moves we began seeing half way through this season. So no, there is no reason to think a master plan's afoot to stock the roster with francophones at the expense of the best players. Savard's way too smart for that, and Molson's way too smart to hire him if that was the case.

Take this at face value. Savard is an intelligent hockey mind who brings winning standards and that important local link. In fact, with Savard there to fill the fans' need for a local link, the organization can hire anyone of any language.

As to running the team, no GM would take the job if he became a puppet to Savard.

BINGO!

That is all this is in my opinion.

You will know by the GM appointment if Savard will be in charge or not .. the fact that Damphousse was already forced out makes me feel better ..

Good riddance, have fun cheering for the winning tradition of the Leafs!

I don't really care one way or another for this posting. It's good that Molson is appointing people around him in the high-management sphere who know about hockey.

We'll see who they appoint GM and Coach. THEN I'll make a judgment call. But I am happy that Savard won't just pick the next leader and get out without facing the consequences of his decision.

I am not sure what bad comes out of this.. If anything, Savard will know how to compete with Quebec for the attention of fans.
