this might have been asked/answered but im honestly lost as to why players get thrown out of faceoffs. ive played a bit of hockey, nothing really organized but in the NHL you see two players looking ready to take the draw and the ref just tosses one out almost inexplicably. Ive just never figured it out.

I'm a referee and it's an easy rule. Maybe not evident for the fans tho.
yeah, just saw that on the first couple pages. whoops, thanks all!
just seems very arbitrary...
Might seem, but it's not.
Quote:
76.3 Procedure – As soon as the line change procedure has been completed by the Referee and he lowers his hand to indicate no further changes, the Linesman conducting the face-off shall blow his whistle. This will signal to both teams that they have no more than five (5) seconds to line up for the ensuing face-off. At the end of the five (5) seconds (or sooner if both centers are ready), the Linesman will conduct a proper face-off. If, however:
(i) One or both centers are not positioned for the face-off,
(ii) One or both centers refrain from placing their stick on the ice,
(iii) Any player has encroached into the face-off circle,
(iv) Any player makes physical contact with an opponent, or
(v) Any player who lines up for the face-off in an off-side position,
the Linesman shall have the offending center(s) replaced immediately prior to dropping the puck.
Not sure if it's posted but if moral isn't concerned what's preventing someone to unleash slapshots after slapshots wtih the intention of hurting other players during play? What would happen if a slapshot clearing attempt ends up injuring a player on the bench? If that happens multiple times in one game?
Ok I might look dumb Here, but what's the deal with the "****ing allstar" Thing with dany heatley? I'd guess that He Said it himself, but I didnt find anything of the sort with googling and searching on Youtube. Thanks in advance
I know a player in college was behind the net, put the puck on his blade just like that and literally stuffed it in from behind the red line.
That's when this question got into my head. I believe it was a Wolverines player who did this move and right then and there I started to wonder if it's possible/legal to skate end to end with the puck on your blade.

Back when Heatley asked for a trade a guy on Youtube called "OttawaGh0st" started to make parodies of Heatley and other NHL players.
I'm pretty sure that this is the video that started the whole "****ing all star" thing. His channel has been taken down twice though, and IIRC a lot of his videos were lost.
Two players go to the box for 5 minute fighting majors. Once the 5 minutes is up, when do they get to leave the box and head back to their benches since its already 5-on-5?

Next play stoppage. I believe misconducts are like this too.

It's completely legal, as long as you're not raising it above your shoulder (ie, playing the puck with a high stick) or violating any other rules in the process.
In theory the players could play the whole game by carrying and passing the puck lacrosse-style. It would just be ridiculously hard to do against a defense.

Rule 21 covers attempts to injure the opponent "in any manner". The result is a match penalty -- 5 minutes plus game, and automatic suspension hearing.

Don't know why this occured to me and it may be the most irrelevant question asked in this thread, lol, but do teams provide players with brand new, straight-from-the-manufacturer jerseys/socks for every game? every few games? or only when they "need" replacing (stain, rip, etc)?
