I have a reason why I think hockey isn't all that popular in America and I will try to explain as best I can without insulting the States.
I think Hockey isn't popular in America because it's to fast. There's so much going on at once, the pace is fast and there's a lot of things you need to pay attention to. If you compare hockey to football or baseball you need less of an attention span to watch the ladder. I heard a stat somewhere (I'll probably get it wrong) that a football game only has something like 11 minutes of actual play. I believe this is a reason people get into the game so much, you can go take a piss, grab a beer, shoot the sh$t with your buddies and not miss any action. You only have to bear down and watch the ball for 5-10 seconds at a time. People are having a harder and harder time these days staying focused and holding their attention. Conversely in hockey a 60 minute hockey game is played for 60 full minutes of non stop action. Americans just simply can't stay focused and interested for that long it seems as if there's just to much to pay attention to.
This is just my opinion and it's not a dig to the USA
O yes you are right with your points to say the least, I will say and the fact that it is kind of hard to follow the puck makes it an unpopular sport in the states...You are right over here the majority of the public does not have the ability to or the will to pay attention to something for that long of a time...you nailed it on the head
Pronger is one, if not the nicest professional athlete I've ever met. Surprised me too. Good video. This would be a good scene for a Culkin "Home Alone" movie set in the future...gold Jerry, gold!

hahaha thank you and yeah when I met Pronger I was quite pleasantly surprised by his attitude that he showed to Islanders fan lol
Playing the sport, or watching on TV, or playing a video game version. Bubble hockey is a hoot. I collect jerseys, used to collect cards, and... you get the idea.
Great vid tjolsen. Nice to see something so sincere in our cynical, sarcastic and jaded age.
The only two sports I love are hockey and soccer (although hockey's the better of the two in my opinion and I'm only a casual soccer fan). Both games have a certain flow and beauty to them and strike a good balance between team cohesion and individual skill.
I can respect why people like basketball and baseball, but they're just not for me. One sport I don't get is football. It's all start and stop.

Thank you man hahaha...I love soccer quite a bit...I would love it more if certain players and teams did not always flop around the place...I love football though lol...just like hitting people I guess lol
