Steve Yzerman was at the game scouting tonight and left a message on the Oil Kings' dressing room wall.

Good luck to all the Oil Kings!

That had to jack them up when they saw that after the game.
A picture of the message is on the Oil Kings' Facebook page.

Apparently, most of the attendance was walk-up. 7000 of the 8000+. I'm pretty irritated with the lady who sold us tickets on Wednesday. Can't find any seats beside each other in the lower bowl? What?
Overall, the attendance is fine. The Oil Kings draw one of the biggest crowds in the entire CHL night to night.

Well they do have one of the biggest arenas, so that makes sense..

I asked the guy I bought tickets off of for the lowest row in the upper bowl, I said I don't care if they're behind the net, I just wanted the lowest row. He gave me row 36. I asked again if that was the lowest row in the entire bowl, and he assured me they were and he rolled his eyes at me. I get into the arena, and there's probably about 500+ empty seats on the ends that were rows 21-30 for the entire game.
Pelss was awesome tonight. the only line not doing well was the Peddle-Rachinski-Moroz line which seemed to get itself in trouble nearly every shift.
The biggest difference tonight was the adjustment of Brandon...they tried to use their size and implement a gameplan similar to that of Kootenay to shut down the middle of the ice and limit chances. while they did limit the shots and opportunities a great deal, it didn't matter in the end.
It seems like Brandon's defence is their weakness right now. The Oil kings were, almost to a man, blowing by defenders like they weren't there.
Also, I became a season ticket holder tonight. Got my bobble-heads, round 3 free and any tickets for a potential round 4 will be at season ticket prices.

Awesome! Thinking of becoming a season ticket holder too.
Game tonight was entertaining to watch. Had no doubt in my mind that we would push back even when we were down. Pelss had a great night potting the first two goals. I expect them to take the Ed Chynoweth Cup because as a team, they play SO well. Not entirely confident that the goaltending is going to take us to the Memorial Cup though. Come on Broissant!!
A lot of Pelss' goals seem to come from his shot from the high circle, which is outstanding. He seems to have that Eberle-like quality to get opened in areas and get off a quick release up high. He doesn't have a contract yet, but I'm assuming the Oilers will sign him and let him spend next season with the Oil Kings.
Yeah he's 20 years old, but most of the guys I've asked (namely Corey Graham and the pipeline guys) think he'll be in junior again, and I agree - he'd be a tremendous power on the Oil Kings next season.
The 4 twenty year olds they've got next season will be Wruck, Foster, Pelss and Pysyk. However a team is only allowed 3 at any time (like we have Peddle, Rachinski and Maxwell right now). Pysyk will very likely move on to the AHL, however.

Gotta love the staff at Northlands. I've had this experience multiple times this year at Oil Kings games.

I doubt Pysyk would stay for an overage season. I think he's Rochester bound.
