Rheault looks to be on his way to having his best season this year with 15g-15a for 30 points and 41 games. How has he looked for anyone that's seen him live?

Heat have signed former Leafs draft pick Tyler Ruegsegger to make up for some of the injuries up front. Played 12 games with the Heat last year, with 5 points.

But I thought he looked pretty good in the NCAA and at the WJ's a few years ago, and I remember being surprised when the Leafs didn't tender him an offer. But he's only put up about 0.5ppg in the ECHL this year.

You'd think that with the shortage of players in Abby that Wahl would have gotten another chance. He seems to be scoring pretty good in Utah right now.....

He was loaned to Hamilton by the Heat. The condition is, he can't play for Abbotsford for the rest of the season, so he's in Utah.

Didn't know that he couldn't be returned. Looking at all the bodies they've brought in from the ECHL, I think he missed a great opportunity. Hopefully he builds his confidence in Utah and is a regular on the Heat next year.

Anyone know the situation with the most recent swap/loan of Dmen? I think it was Henry and this Testwuide guy? I don't understand why we would loan out one of our guys and take on anothers who plays the same position......Unless they were just unhappy with him?

The Heat were destroyed over the weekend losing 4-1 and 5-0 in 2 games against Peoria. We need to get healthy so the Heat can get some talent back on that roster

Another loss lastnight. The heat dressed 10 skaters and 8 Dmen yesterday due to all the callups/injuries

By my count: Kolanos, Bouma, Horak, Nemisz, Desbiens all called up
Byron, Laing, Sylvester, Rheault, Sinkewich all injured.

And we think we have it bad - ouch!

Kolanos was sent back down last night because of Comeau playing. He is showing on their roster on the AHL website now, he should be back next game. Unfortunately for Abbotsford they have to wait for 2 more forwards to return to the Flames lineup to get any help. Hopefully Bouma and Jackman both return Thursday and Desbiens can head back down to Abby to give them a bit of a lift.

Kolanos with another goal now has 52 points in 44 games. Its kinda crazy how well he can dominate the ahl and yet he is at best a extra forward in the nhl.

Its not that crazy, quite a few players are like that.

When you look at other top ahl players that get called up they usually produce for a few games then go cold Kolanos never got hot at all.

Hip problems have basically destroyed his skating ability. He can't keep up with the speed at the top level.

Kolanos was a bit snake bitten when he was with the big club, he had a few pretty close opportunities and he played well on the forecheck.

I thought he outplayed Horak at least, and was surprised when he was sent down before Horak when players started returning from injury.

Kolanos had to be demoted before Horak. Horak was recalled as a regular recall where as Kolanos was an emergency recall all of Kolanos, Desbiens, Nemisz and (of course) Baertschi had to be demoted before Horak or Bouma who were both regular recalls.

Heat won this morning 2-1. Giving them a 4 point edge on Peoria for 4th place in the Western Conference. My math may be wrong but I think a win tomorrow afternoon clinches a playoff spot for Abbottsford

Huge game for the heat today they win 8-2 and Kolanos had 5 points and Bryon had 3 points. I hope Kolanos can find a way to make it back to the nhl he clearly has the skill just not the speed.

from the Heat's website...

Quote:
The line of Krys Kolanos, Paul Byron and Dustin Sylvester continues to dominate for the Heat. Kolanos had two goals and three assists in the romp, posting his second-career five-point game, extending his AHL-leading goal scoring streak to seven, and rewriting the Heat record books with his 30th goal now the new franchise record for a single season. Byron chipped in with two goals and an assist while Dustin Sylvester scored his 15th of his rookie season and added three helpers.
7-game goal streak and a new franchise goal record for Kolanos (albeit a weak one).

What hasn't been mentioned is the Heat clinched a playoff spot with the win yesterday. They have won 5 in a row, are 8-1-2 in their last 11 and have been without Irving the past 5 games

Danny Taylor has been playing amazing all year I think there is a chance he gets a chance next year with Ortio.

Yeah he has been, and I think the Flames sign him this summer to a two-way deal. However I think Ortio may be finished with the organization, reports indicate that he asked to go back to Finland this year because he wasn't playing enough. At the very least I think he spends Next year in Finland.

Personally I would like to sign Taylor Nelson from Ferris State, his career numbers have been pretty good and he is very poised under pressure.

Abby ends the season winning 7 straight and will place 4th in the conference. Max Reinhart got in his first pro game and scored 2 goals. Brady Lamb and Turner Elson also played their first game. No Leach.
It will be interesting to see if Max plays in the playoffs, and who's spot he takes.
