done, and added a ******** of prospects to the prospects team while I was at it since we're right around the 9 game mark and people are starting to head back to juniors.

The Reimer/Luongo trade has been reversed due to Reimer's health.

It will go back into effect once Reimer is able to play.

I have dropped Matt Halischuk and Max Talbot from the Prospects Team. Obviously I'm confident in dropping Talbot, but I posting this to make sure no one has Halischuk as a prospect. I don't see him listed...just making sure.

There are 2 empty spots on the Prospects Team, if anyone wants one of theirs added to the roster, let either me or Dave know and we'll add him. Additionally, if you're wanting a quick acceptance of a trade for your prospect, you're always welcome to ask for my help...just PM me.

So can I just drop my prospects without losing them, or do I have to make sure they go to the prospects team?

I want to drop David Savard from my roster, but not lose a prospect.

Isn't Leddy still my property even though I dropped him? He's played over 65 games now, but was at 46 to start the season.

The only member of the Canes I would like to be my keeper for next season is Wally Tatomir. thanks for the used socks yesterday.

Great season everyone. I'd especially like to give credit to Tanabe #1 Overall and The Dude for making me very nervous at times.

So I've been thinking the following for some time, and decided that I would only mention it if I won the league:

1. Hits and blocked shots are both equal to goals or assists in this league, and that's kind of obviously insane. I managed to exploit this by drafting Dennis Seidenberg, Luke Schenn, Mark Giordano, and Steve Ott. I don't think that drafting these players should help anyone win a league.

2. If you want to include some slightly different stats, that's fine. But I think switching to a points system is a good idea, so a goal can be worth X and a hit, blocked shot, faceoff won, can be worth .1X, or something.

3. There are definitely too many bench spots. I never kept up with the waiver wire except to fill in for injured players, because there were almost no players who could contribute at any time after a couple of months into the year. Watching the waiver wire is part of the fun of fantasy.

4. I prefer H2H (with two-week playoff games) but I understand if others do not feel this way. I think it's fair to say that in the latter half of this year the league was interesting to maybe 3 teams including myself.

5. If we want a kind of thinking man's league we could try using the real life salary cap.

edit:
6. Less confident about this one, but the draft is also very boring because of the amount of keeper players.

I hate the format of this league. I've said it subtly before, but I'm going to be much less subtle about it this time because I'm considering putting my team up for grabs. It's become clear to me that I have no chance of winning by the end of November the last few seasons, and I've basically had no incentive to continue really paying attention to it. Every season this is by far the most uninteresting league I am in. I agree with pretty much all of your points, especially the head to head one and the extremely high number of keeper players.

Just putting this out there, if anyone wants me to take over for their team or if there is a way of adding a new team I would love to join.

I'm an active fantasy owner, and I've won 2 straight fantasy championships in non-keeper leagues that I've done with some friends and acquaintances.

I'd be down for H2H. Could lead to some interesting grudge matches.

But for now I'll just settle for pestering Dave to start the next thread, and get the ball rolling for new managers/the prospect draft.

H2H also has a better shot at keeping everyone interested longer

Not really interested in h2h. Hockey doesn't lend itself to it. Everything else I'd listen to in terms of change. Stats being worth different amounts is good. I agree we have too many players. I always want it to be a five dollar throw in. Everyone has five bucks, and 60'sh bucks is enough to maybe fight for. I like that we have to draft different kinds of players to round the team out, though I agree it can go too far. I drafted konopka and rounded out my d with guys like smid and Murray. I don't view it as exploitation, that's the way the league is. If you don't pick up on it it's you're own fault, though I understand it if you just don't like the concept. It's an equal points league, obviously hits are just as important as goals.

In h2h it goes by week? The one time I did this I had the best team by quite a bit, but came in fourth because I lost multiple weeks due to the fact my players had fewer games the week I lost. Ain't like football. My guys didn't underperform thoss weeks.

On H2H vs. Roto

Roto is like if the team that won the President's Trophy was declared the best in the NHL and that was the end of the season. No professional sport in the world goes exclusively by that system*. Soccer has tournaments, America has playoffs.

If we go H2H (not categories but total points), then yes, you will have weeks where everyone is playing and weeks where it seems like none of your guys play. This makes for challenging and therefore interesting waiver decisions.

If your defense for roto is that the team that "should" win will win, then my counter to you is that this is not worth it if there is a risk that one team will basically be the winner for what, 3 months? (I don't remember)

If last year I had lost in a championship playoff, it would have been anguishing. Anguish = an emotion = good. Roto is a clear loser to me in terms of trying to play a game (fantasy hockey) in a way that will be interesting for almost a year.

*(except test cricket kind of, which uses a system widely acknowledged to be crazy, but limited overs cricket has the World Cup)
