After the human rocketship sat on Anders's head, I guess Preds don't want to take any chances.

Couldn't wait a few hours and let him backup at Houston tonight, could we? I'm hoping it's precautionary, but, it's not an encouraging sign.

good point 101.. why the urgency to recall him when we dont play till wednesday? lindback may be worse off than said.

poor milwaukee.. right in the final push

That's cruel, inflicting Chet Pickard on the Admirals like that.

Has there been any update on Lindback's status?

Should be just a precautionary move. Hopefuly Lindy is ready to go for game1.

Might mean the Lindy is pretty bad off, and they don't want to risk Smith being injured in MIL... otherwise it doesn't make sense to bring him in today, unless there's a timing issue with eligibility for playoff rosters?

well, they need 2 goalies for practice.....

and they need smith to get used to being here...

maybe all that...... and I don't know about the eligibility issue..

but, it just makes sense that they doubt he is going to be ready to be a back up on Wed....so they need to get someone prepared.

does anybody remember what happened right before the rocketship fell on him.... did he twist funny as he fell? that's one of the things i wonder about... if he somehow "torqued" something in his upper body that "seized" up today...

They aren't sure Lindy will be able to practice tomorrow so they called Smith up. Better to have him here just in case Lindy can't backup on Wednesday as well.

Pickard makes more sense for a practice only goalie. Less disruptive to either roster.

No, it isn't. He could have played tonight in Houston and then reported after the game or Monday AM. Milwaukee is in a SO and Engren isn't good at those. I am not so happy with Fenton at the moment.

no, if Nashville recalled him they need him...

and I'm sure he would feel the same about being here.

there aren't any flights out of houston late tonight to be able to get to nashville tonight.
and what if he got hurt tonight.

i wish he hadn't be recalled. it would mean lindbach and his injury are minor.

Milwaukee has another road game (#5 in this trip) at SA on Tuesday. They did win the SO and jumped from #9 into the #5 spot. Milwaukee has one more week of regular season to go, along with 4 more games. Still not happy with what happened. He could be at the arena at 11 AM.

Probably would have been good to get smith a few games in NHL over last..... Ever!

Please stand tall pekka. Not good backup situation if smith is backing up.

His first NHL game would be playoff game??

It doesn't necessarily mean lindback is badly hurt but they certainly don't want smith getting hurt.

Sucks mightily for the ads fans but that's the downside of rooting for an AHL team.... At any time youir best players can disappear.

May be just as well that we find out whether Engren can hack it or not...

They hope Lindback will be back (on the bench) for game 1 but they don't know for sure yet. He may miss practice though. If they want Smith right now, there's got to be a reason.

Still believe that reason is they don't know about lindback and they are taking no chances on smith getting hurt. Again, I feel for aDs fans, but he is property of the nashville predators and will be used to the preds best benefit.

And if Smith were to get hurt and Lindback is out for a while then what? Pickard is Rinne's backup through the playoffs? Would you be happy then? The Ads are the Preds farm team and are there to support in any way the Preds need them to. I'm sorry that you guys are in a playoff hunt and Smith is your guy but we're in the playoffs and we need to be as prepared as possible and if it means Smith has to be called up, so be it.

Completely agree. The Preds have historically rolled the dice by going on road trips with no extra players available on multiple occasions and over the years have more times than not decided to NOT make a precautionary call up just in case somebody can't play/gets hurt in warm ups/gets sick, etc. If Smith got called up, then they are in serious need of his services...they just don't normally make a precautionary call up. Add into that the situation that the Preds are getting ready for the playoffs, and I can't see how anybody could question this move.

Whether Lindback is in bad shape (my guess) or it's just a day-to-day situation and Smith is in Nashville just in case, it doesn't matter. The Preds made the correct call with Smith and can use Smith for practice, protect him from injury in the AHL, and at the same time prepare him for NHL duty if necessary. Don't mean to sound nasty to our friends in MIL, but the Preds made the 100% correct decision in this situation.
