That twitter update is better than what ESPN has to say about Kreider signing...

No Kreider this season

New York Rangers prospect Chris Kreider capped off his career at Boston College with an NCAA Championship on Saturday. And some wondered whether the Rangers would try to get him signed for the playoffs, which might've been more likely if Kreider's Boston College team didn't make it so deep in the Frozen Four.

But the New York Post's Larry Brooks is reporting that Kreider is flying home to Tampa, Fla., and that there's no "indication he is on the verge of signing with" the Rangers. Not a huge surprise, and this probably means the first we'll see of Kreider will be next season.

Good lord. Just because he didn't sign right away doesn't mean he's not going to sign at all, or that he couldn't sign tomorrow for all we know. People are flying off the handle trying to predict what the situation is and all that's really happening right now is that the guy just won a championship and then flew back home and that's all he's had time to do right now.

The guy had Easter with his family yesterday most likely. Like most people, he was not working or looking at a contract. It's not a big deal.......

I would think this has been addressed before, but has there ever been a player to win both a national championship and stanley cup in the same year?

Larry Brooks ‏ @NYP_Brooksie

No NYR deal as of now with Kreider but could be agreement by end of day.

I think most rational Ranger fans understand the need for patience. It was a holiday weekend in addition to all the National Championship celebrating. Let him enjoy it. His career will be there 5 days from now, all of the Championship festivities, not so much.

The Rangers will sign him if they have not already. I think they will play him in a few games, but seeing him practice with the team should better determine that. All of this needs to be handled carefully. People need to calm the heck down.

This is what agents and management are for. They get paid to worry the details while the client has a life.

So is this kid seriously going to jump right into the playoffs?

I would think Torts wont want to use him in Defensive situations since he has no clue what the kid can bring.

We may see a PP Specialist role like Zuke had though

My gut feeling is that he will practice with the team, and only fill in as an injury replacement or if the team gets down a game or two and needs a jump start.

However I could also easily see him sent straight to Hartford. People should not be disappointed if that is the decision. Staying with the Rangers would have been much more likely had BC not made the Frozen Four.

I have no clue what the Rangers have in mind but sending him to hartford to play with that team makes little sense..At the least, he practices with the New York Rangers, soaks up some atmosphere and experiences the intense pro game while providing insurance/depth to a team that desperately needs it..You know, after they run through John Freakin Scott!...At the best, to a team with invisible and stuggling young forwards and 4th liners, pehaps he can provide an alternative, a jolty or even talent......I watched Krieder a few times, wasn;t overwhelmed by his talent every game, but every time I was impressed by his total game, postioning and responsibility...and think he could easily fit into the Rangers right NOW if both want it..

My guess, if he does play in the first round, he won't play in the first game.

That or if the Rangers advance, he'll play second round.

They likely want to get him several practices.
