I think kubina just has a case of crappy play syndrome, sucks but at least the coaching staff notices it also

I'd switch Simmonds an Voracek. Both of them worked well on the other lines.

I say start Kubina and Lilja in game one. Bourdon has been ok, but game 1 in Pittsburgh I don't know if I trust him. Not that Lilja (or even Kubina) has been much better, but they've both been there before. If they don't play well, swap one out in game 2.

Earlier, Briere was with Read and Voracek. Then Briere was with Schenn and Voracek.

Tbh, I'd rather have Schenn at the 2nd line center spot than Briere.

Those are some good lookin lines, but I would have Kubina in for Bourdon. Kubina and Lilja would be a really slowwwwwwwwww pairing, but they have playoff experience and as a D-man you can work around your speed.

I personally don't see one weak spot on our forward lines. They have skill, speed, scoring ability and a lot of grit. That is a true playoff team that Homer and Lavy put together.

That Carle - Timonen pairing is EXTREMELY soft.

Remember in prior years they would just send Kunitz to headhunt Timonen all series?

We need to stop that from happening this year.

Who would you put with Kimmo then? Kubina? He is about the only other option with size that could play those minutes. All the teams were headhunting Kimmo in the last two playoffs and with this system it makes hitting him easy because of all the pinching.

I wish Meszaros was back so we could drop Carle with Bourdon and put Mez with Kimmo.

That wouldn't be bad at all. Mez and Bourdon seem to be out of position a lot but are the more physical of the four while Kimmo and Carle play much better positioning and would back them up.

Join the club. Haha. Any shot of him coming back this series or is he ruled out completely for this round?

Extremely unlikely that Meszaros will play in this round.

Those lines are good.

However, the Pens are scary good at center. Flyers have the edge when comparing the wings.

Briere needs to switch to playoff mode to somehow compensate what we are lacking down the middle.

So Giroux has completely recovered from his upper management ... I mean, upper body injury?

Two wingers to insulate Briere defensively. I see why they are switching the lines. Voracek is the best two-way winger we have.

That could be the reason behind it. I don't think that there is that much difference between Voracek and Simmonds defensively though. Neither of them are great, really, but both are pretty good. I also think that with a player like Brière, the best way to insulate his defensive deficiencies is to find him players he develop chemistry with, so that they are able to keep the puck in the offensive zone as much as possible. The old adage about the best defense is offense is very true when it comes to guys like Brière. Keep him the hell away from our own zone as much as possible. That doesn't mean that defensively capable wingers are completely out of the question, but I wouldn't necessarily look at that aspect first when trying to compose the lines.

Anyway, I don't think it's that big of a deal. I just thought it a bit odd that they switched up what had seemed to begin to work so well just before Brière got injured. Schenn, Brière and Simmonds had all had some rough stretches when they were put together, but seemed to play better and better together. Wellwood-Read-Voracek on their hand had formed a pretty damn solid two-way line with tremendous speed.

I think the most important thing this series will be our PP (and obviously PK)

The PK is really up to bryz..and even still pitt will definitely get a few.

Unlike most years, this year i really think we can fire back and score some PP goals.

I want Jagr behind the NET!!

(and Hartnell+Simmer is a must)

I would put Kubina with Timonen and Carle with Lilja or Bourdon.

If any Flyer throws a check at Letang like that Kunitz hit on Timonen they would be suspended for 5 games I guarantee it.

Yeah, Kunitz running Timonen was really bad. I still can't believe how much crap the Penguins organization gets away with in terms of cheap shots. It's absurd.

I wonder what's up with Kubina? Is he benched or is he just to banged up?
