i agree, although it gets so much worse than that, nyi pick strome over him and hamilton.

and the biggest disaster in wpg, taking scheifele over him, i would be ripping my hair out over that.

not old enough to remember this, but my dad filled me in many times.

but from what i understand it was sentimental that the fans wanted him because he was from around here, did he actually look like the better prospect?

It is definitely a lot different than mine.
The reasoning is they either arent seeing the players play live, or even at all, and if they are, they simply dont know what they are looking at.

Ive been a Grigorenko guy for a long time, but seeing Murray leaping ahead of him in the rankings, I cant see us not picking Murray.

There might be some good late round value there.
Samuelsson in the third round would be great. Branden Troock would also be good in that range.

I'm really starting to lean that way as a fan who hasn't actually seen any of these guys play.
this is starting to become my thinking as well... murray is likely the "safest" top-5 pick outside of yakupov... he's from western canada, they have likely seen him play a lot, he fills a need and he might legitimately be the BPA at 2 or 3

I'd pick Morgan Reilly ahead of Murray if we had to pick a defenseman, remember he was injured all year so he has a year less in development but he has more potential I believe.
I'm all for Grigorenko though.

This..

2- Ryan Murray

32- Colin Wilson

62/other 2nd rounder- Samuelsson

That would fill a lot of holes

This is just all to confusing, but as said in a previous post, it is the other off-season moves that will make more of an immediate impact on this team... One thing is forsure we will be getting a good player at the 2012 draft!

Ideas:

If we win the lottery - draft Yakupov!
who do we trade for a top tier dman?

If we don't win the lottery?
Would we consider making a Sedin like move and attempt to trade Hall for #1 and say B.Jenner from CBJ (if they win the lottery) and draft both Sting players...?

How about targeting COL first rd pick that WAS has?
Draft Murray at 2 and draft whom ever drops - Reinhart Dumba Reily Faksa or Gaunce? the idea of Murray and Dumba!!

Should be studying but my mind is clearly elsewhere!
Heres hoping to the end of the lottery finishes...

I think that would be taking one step forward, then two steps back.

And if you had #1 and #2 it would probably make more sense to take Yakupov and Grigorenko, than Yakupov and Galchenyuk. But again, I wouldnt make that trade.

I'd be surprised if Samuelsson even makes it out of the 1st round.

Does anyone think tha tif Columbus retains the 1st overall pick and doesn't trade it. Is there a chance that they go off the board and select Murray themselves?

I think they have to take a forward. Trading Nash and then drafting a Dman wouldnt excite to many fans and they are on the brink right now.

I doubt it.

Yakupov is a potential franchise level goal scorer. If the Nash indications are true and he wants out, then Yakupov is the natural successor. He's a terrific talent, for a management under that much fire like Howson and co. are in CBJ, I highly doubt they take the risk.

They can pick a D-man either later in the draft or through trade (especially if the Nash for 5th overall rumor on the Leafs board comes true).

not drafting Yakupov 1st would mean their management is completely incapable of their jobs.
