Dan Cleary

Quote:
Cleary said he will play in opener. Will need pain killing injection before each game. Said he has tear in knee, bone on bone rubbing.
How did he not fix his knee during the season, like back in november when it all started? Sigh...

He won't be effective whatsoever.

Is this or is this not the same injury he had last year in the playoffs?
Will surgery fix this or not?
Why hasn't he had the surgery before now?

Does anyone think he's going to be effective in his current state? Why hasn't anyone sat him down and said, Danny Boy, we admire you for trying, but you playing like in this shape helps nobody...

Gotta love that he admits he's 50% yet still in the lineup. What a joke.

I wonder who's to blame for this mess, Dan cleary or the trainers?

Franzen did this **** last year in the playoffs against San Jose. Someone please help me remember. He played 3 or 4 games (?) with a bum leg and was so ineffective. I couldn't understand why Babcock was playing him limping around so terribly.

Dammit Cleary should just sit!

Last year it was a broken ankle. He has knee surgery back after the 09/10 series. Guy's wheels are just breaking down.

with how well Nyquist has played, Sheahan looking decent, Helm coming back, Connor available...I'd sit Cleary.

I don't complain about the lineup often, but I'd much rather have 100% Conner than 50% Cleary.

Cleary's miniscus is done. This is like Rafalski last year skating around bone on bone for half the season. Cleary should just hang em up.

Sounds quite crazy to use him. Let the healthy guys play. Cleary is not any kind of important factor to us if he is not 100%.

Would miss his experience, but without being 100 percent he should just sit like others have said. Admire your toughness Dan,but I don't see you helping out this lineup.

He is a tough guy, but at some point he needs to be honest and look in the mirror and realize he isn't helping. I would hope even if he doesn't Kenny and Babcock come to that conclusion for him. Wonder if it is more minor if he should just get surgery now and be out for a month, he might be a big addition if healthy for the WCF or SCF.

This is both quite disheartening and frustrating at the same time. I hope this doesn't prevent him from playing anymore after the season.

Babcock says Cleary is going to play in the playoffs even though everyone (including Babcock and Cleary himself) know he is injured?

He is going to be absolutely ineffective and it's not like he's indispensable. He is no where near Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom or even Franzen's level of importance.

Babcock's man crush for players who have "a lot of heart and play real good" is going to kill us all.

Ugh, i really wish he just had the surgery done at the beginning of the season/ Nov/Dec when they found out the real problem.

Cleary sure is a warrior tho... but it is a bad thing he's still playing

This is the thing - it shouldn't be Cleary's decision. We might not be happy that he's on the ice, we might think he's ineffective (though I think he's still been a better player than he's been given credit for this season) but Babcock's the one who is putting him out there.

Two things:

1) Cleary and Holmstrom should both sit, but Cleary has been better than Holmstrom.

2) I do not believe Cleary playing will hurt the team, but I would rather see Mursak or whomever in for him.

Cleary has a ton of heart, but no brains. Babcock should be doing his job and sitting him instead.

If he sucks after the first two games and Cleary is still in the lineup, i will just assume Babcock wants the team to lose.

If we lose the first two games I'm pretty sure it'll have more to do than just Cleary.

Cleary is trying to be a hero... Maybe he will actually play harder in the playoffs. I know, wishful thinking..

i dont see why he didn't get it fixed during the season....unless the surgery will keep him out for a long time which means he'll more than likely spend a good part of next year on the IR

LOLLLL so they rather have 50% Cleary rather than 100% Mursak, Conner, whoever.
