Disrespected by experts

Does anyone feel we are being disrespected by the experts on how far of a run we will make? Some have us out in the first round, most have us getting bounced after that.

I like it. Feels just like the Giants all over again. Experts and armchair analyst expect nothing of you.

Anyone surprised? These "expertts" are mostly affiliated with the NHL. Who does the NHL want to see in the finals?

Watching NHL tonight on NHL network last night, all three guys predicted the Rangers over the Sens. One was Paul Maurice and I forget who the other two were.

I don't think people have us going anywhere past that though.

Nah. Rangers are an unproven playoff team, so some experts are going to pick them to go out early. As a Rangers fan myself, I'm not really sure what to expect from them.

Meanwhile, I noticed that all the ESPN analysts picked both Pitt and Nashville to advance. Very unusual for the 4-5 picks to be so lopsided, especially since neither of those teams had an edge in the season series. Now that's a little disrespectful.

Someone said that they had an article up on NHL.com and the 13 experts all predicted the Rangers to win the series. It was the only sweep.

I don't feel slighted, but even if we were it would be less pressure and I don't mind it.

A team that comes within one win away from the President's Trophy SHOULD be picked to beat the 8th seed ... regardless of where everyone expected them to finish prior to the season started ... the real disrespect comes after that. I mean we won 50+ games and racked up 109 points ... I feel like regardless of what we did all year all the experts are still waiting for the other shoe to drop and for us to fall back to earth. This to me is a little disrespectful.

"experts" make picks that are for teams with playoff experience. That's why we're being knocked.

Who cares? "Experts" are just talking heads they generally pick the most popular teams and an occasional under dog so they can say "I told you so."

The NHL should be rooting for a Rangers - LA finals. Considering the size of both cities and their location, it would attract more fans to hockey than anything else out there.

When the Rangers won the Cup in 1994, it was great for hockey.

That was actually my prediction before the season started...we still gotta get them back for the OT loss in game 1

Haha, great avatar. Saw that picture in the Times, great article.

And to the OP, I know she isn't an expert, but you can always count on Linda Cohen picking NYR to win the cup.
