Darche was reliable and never downright awful.

Darche scored 12 goals last season and (in 2011-12) before his concussion he and Plekanec (with Moen/Bourque) were providing us with a solid shutdown line.

His work ethic and attitude is (Cole like) perfect. I wish to see him back onboard as this team #12 or #13 F next season. In fact, I see him and Blunden as our 2012-13 #12 and #13 forwards.

That being mentioned, Darche is a solid addition to the RDS playoffs team.

PS do people in here seriously think it would be a good idea to keep a young player in the press box?

Good work Darche... one thing I always respected about the guy-- he's always thinking long-term. If future coach isn't in the cards, he has his foot in the door for broadcasting.

I don't get the hate, I've never seen Darche play badly, he was just way overused. I'd be totally up for seeing him back, albeit obviously in a more limited role than under JM.

I think everyone bashing Darche on this post is also backing Bourque for another season... illogical people relying on their impulses rather than sense will always wander this earth.

Anyways, good for Darche, he's a stand up guy.

Mathieu Darche> Scott Gomez. I say this and it is true. Good for him to get on tv, not our greatest player but not our greatest problem either.

I don't understand the Darche hate at all. He's a very serviceable 4th liner who can chip in offensively a little bit, and has amazing work ethic. He's a great presence in the room, he's one of the few guys who ALWAYS speaks with the media after losses, and I hope he comes back next year.

Should be interesting.
Wait, it doesn't mean that he's going to stop playing he might as well go back to training camp with the Habs, it says:

dans son équipe d’analystes des séries de la Coupe Stanley

In the team of analysts for the stanley cup playoffs.

He's made no mention of retiring from the NHL just that he's going to work for RDS in the spring.

I don't care for fighters, I only care about the Habs winning. But to say the only flaw in Darche is that he doesn't fight is laughable. He's slow, not great mobility, struggled to produce offense until later in the season. In his first 29 games this season he had 1 point, in the first 51 games he had 6 pts while getting PP time. Out of the 12 pts he got this year, half of them came in a 2 week span later in the season.

Darche works hard every shift and he was really solid for us in '10-'11 but his production dropped way off and he looked slower out there. I like Darche but I can't agree that his only flaw is that he doesn't fight. If we want to be a playoff team, we need better players.

Agreed, as a 12th or 13th forward at under a million per year he is OK to have around. As for doing analysis now that the team is out, tsn and CBC do this regularly.
