Going to games at Consol as a Flyers fan...

Never done this before, but I managed to secure some sweet tickets for this series and plan to rock my Flyers jersey at Consol.

To anyone who has done this before, am I being stupid? What have your experiences been cheering for the Flyers in enemy territory?

Just remember: They're Penguin fans. They idolize the biggest wuss in the league. You should be fine

I went to game six the Cup finals at Mellon arena decked out in full Detroit gear. I realize it's not the same as being a Flyers fan up there but if you are willing to take me with you I will gladly rock the orange and black. In fact I owned a Flyers jersey years ago. Could still be in my parents attic. Give me a ticket and if anyone tries anything I'll take the heat off you. I despise all things Pittsburgh so nothing would make me happier than to go there in a Flyers jersey and piss them off.

I saw some drunken Pens fans try to intimidate some of the Wings fans outside in the smoking area during intermission. But yeah, they worship the biggest sissy in the league so I advise you to not worry.

I've worn the opposing jersey into Heinz field a few times too. Of course you will get some wannabe tough guy get in your face but that's about it. They'll try to intimidate you. But they're lame.

Tell them it's 2004, they'll all go home and forget there's a hockey team.

I suppose that there always could be exceptions, but as a season ticket holder for years now, can say that opposing fans are treated well overall. You have to figure when you are paying almost $9000 per year for even the middle of the pack tickets, you are dealing more with a corporate set and families than the type that might cause you real trouble.

Just some advice from a Pens' fan. You do not have anything to worry about. I still would not go out of my way to be a jerk, but even them I doubt you would have much of an issue. I never read about or hear about issues at the arena. Certainly never saw anything happen there.

Dude seriously, you're a Flyers fan. Never be afraid in another team's barn. If the game isn't going well, start a fight. Knock someone out for me.

One thing I have heard of people doing is wearing a shirt or jacket over your jersey, wear the jacket on the way in to the arena and out. In the arena you are fine, but crap can happen in the parking lot.

I walked a mile to the arena to the first game at console, from my apartment through downtown. Not one person said a word to me until after the Flyers won the game.

What is the worst thing that will happen to you? Maybe the 'knitting' lady will yell at you and point with a 7 gauge.

If the Flyers get up by a goal or two their crowd will completely deflate and you will own the place.

Can I just say as an aside, I have been to your barn as a visiting fan many times and I have always been treated great. Hell the last time there we tail-gated and drank free beer with you guys for an hour before the game. We talked hockey and our mutual hate for all things Pens. We won the game and, other than getting mooned by very drunk fan, we/I have never had any issues. It is all about respect, don't be a d-bag and you will not be treated like one.

Make sure you take lots of video of the Penguins fans yelling things at you even though you're in their home arena. Then make sure you post the video on Youtube and talk about how classless Penguins fans are by the way they treated you.

At least that's what all the cool Habs fans used to do. Funny enough, they won't be able to do it this year.

you should dress up as the Ultimate Warrior just to let that Hulk guy see how pathetic and stupid it is for a grown man to dress up like a wrestler

We saw a game in Pittsburgh a few years back - although it wasn't a playoff game. The most "intimidating" thing said to us was a genius sitting behind us chanting "go home Flyers".

I think it's the same everywhere - if you're looking for trouble, you'll find it. If you're looking to enjoy a game, talk with other fans, and have fun, you'll find it.

Is that a lesson from the Terry Hoitz school of harrassment?

Just make sure you Doop when the Flyer's score, I think it'd be awesome to get a few hundred doing that without a techno beat.

Its Pittsburgh not Philly, did any Pitt team ever need a Courtroom and a jail under a stadium?

Co-signed. It's a game, people. Grow up and have some perspective.

That's their favorite chant. It's kinda cute, actually. Hopefully the boys can continue their winning ways at CONSOL so Flyers fans can respond with, "You know something, feels like I'm home already."
