*OFFICIAL* Mississauga Steelheads 2012-13 Season Thread

Priority Draft on Saturday, depending on the top 10 it will determine their selection. Forwards and a goaltender are the primary concerns to address this offseason.

I agree with Torts. I think it's imperative that they draft a forward at #11 and another one in the 2nd.

It's an interesting spot at #11, where they'll have to wait and see. It'd be great if Dal Colle fell to them. Bennett, Salituro, Hargrave and Hiddink should all get a look there.

Wouldnt it be a stretch if they went with one of the US kids- Tuch, Milan. Even if they dont report, they get a compensatory pick.

They have 2 2nd round picks and they can still be impact players for their depleted lineup. Maybe they are looking 2-3 years down the road?

i honestly think they are looking at 2013-2014 to be truly competitive again.

the 1st round pick this year should be a big part of that mini rebuild and should contribute right away. a american kid seems like a waste to me unless they somehow get him to report.

Look for Jeremiah addison's name to be called...they are going Forward..unless a big shakeup happens, thats who they will take.

I haven't heard Addison's name in the mix, a possibility yes but I doubt he will be selected at 11. Look for Hargrave, Bourne, Bennett, or DeSousa all possibilities depending on how picks 6-10 end up.

if addison is as good of a goal score as the ohl draft guide says he is, i prolly wont mind the pick

was looking forwards to finally drafting a kid with more size like a bourne or hargraves

The Majors drafted Damien Bourne at the #11 spot. Great pick, he's got tons of upside.

Not sure exactly on how many will make the team, that will depend on their performance during training camp but room will be cleared for the 96's. Expect 2-3 having contracts by the end of training camp.

some might think palazzese from kitchener may be available, any chance the majors go for him or another 93 goalie to split time with Martin, who else would be up for trade?

I've heard that Palazzese goes no where until the Rangers are guaranteed that Gibson is returning to the OHL. Anaheim could choose to send Gibson to the AHL.

I don't have any idea on who else might be available...I'd be merely speculating.

Melnyk was on 590, PTS, this evening.

McCown asked if the Majors were for sale. Melnyk said yes.
McCown asked if change in ownership could occur this off-season. Melnyk again said yes.

Who? Any guesses?
Does the team relocate in 2013-2014?

The Majors are sold already, they are just finishing off paper work before it becomes official. The team will not be relocating in the near future.

Any team is for sale, just a matter of price.

as per some players twitter accounts

most of rookies/draft picks/younger players reported to sauga for fitness testing

hopefully theres a couple younger players that can push the older guys to play better and keep their spots.
