Notes
-I expect most of these players to go unsigned.
-Ryan Hegarty (Anaheim), Nicholas Tremblay (Boston), Trent Vogelhuber (Columbus) and Corbin McPherson (New Jersey) are currently playing in the AHL under ATOs contracts.
-Bradley Eidsness (Buffalo) just signed a try-out contract with Reading in the ECHL.
I wonder if WPG will sign Leveille, they're better off with receiving a compensatory 2nd.
Anyone have an update in Jack Connolly? It seems like he's taking a long time to make his decision
I heard him on the radio the other day and he said that he plans on finishing his school year and then see what happens. When asked if he had had interest from NHL teams he said not much and if he doesn't sign with an NHL team he will head to Europe next season.
I was surprised that he hadn't had any serious offers.
The Canes have signed forward Jeremy Welsh of Union College to an entry-level contract. The one-year deal will pay Welsh $832,500 on the NHL level and $70,000 on the AHL level, along with a signing bonus of $92,500.
Welsh will join the Hurricanes in Florida for the team’s final game of the 2011-12 NHL season.
Ron Francis, the Canes' director of hockey operations, said Welsh "provides another big body" down the middle and praised his character and leadership in college as well as his scoring ability.
Welsh will be a group II this summer. He got the max signing bonus of $92,500. Not a bad deal for 1 game. Welsh can sign a SPC for 1 way money next season.
What I love about Carolina (Calgary also does this) is they give you salary details on their signings.

Fon Francis, Director of Hockey Operations for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed forward Jeremy Welsh to an entry-level contract. The one-year deal will pay Welsh $832,500 on the NHL level and $70,000 on the AHL level, along with a signing bonus of $92,500. He will join the Hurricanes in Ft. Lauderdale for the team’s final game of the 2011-12 NHL season.
Pretty good. He gets to play in 1 game and have it count as a season, then be an RFA this summer.
Quote:
Welsh, 23, recorded 27 goals, 17 assists (44 points) and 47 penalty minutes in 40 games for Union College of ECAC Hockey in 2011-12, ranking first on the team and fourth in the NCAA in goals (27).

BTW, though it's an AHL contract so not going to be listed, the Devils added a third Zajac to their organization after signing Kelly Zajac to an AHL deal, to go with Travs on an NHL deal and Darcy on another AHL deal. If they can convince Nolan to come out of college early, they could field 4 Zajacs in their organization.
Ron Francis, Director of Hockey Operations for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Brian Dumoulin (DOO-moh-lihn) to a three-year, entry-level contract. At the NHL Level, Dumoulin will receive $700,000 in 2012-13, $725,000 in 2013-14 and $800,000 in 2014-15. At the AHL level, he would be paid $67,500 in all three years. Dumoulin receives a signing bonus of $270,000, and will immediately join the Hurricanes’ top minor-league affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).
