I'd be comfortable handing the reins to pretty much anyone in that front office. Dave Nonis, Rick Dudley, Claude Loiselle, take your pick. I'm tired of Burke's failures. This team has made very little progress, if any, during his years as GM. People can point to the fact that this team was "in the playoffs for 2/3 of the year" all they want. At the end of the day, Toronto missed the playoffs again. I don't care if they were in for 81 of the 82 games. They're on the outside looking in again. That's all that matters. The bad contracts, the soft players, the fact this team looks nothing like what Burke promised, is all too much for me anymore. I want him gone. Plain and simple.
The stupidest argument in the Anti-Burke campaigners arsenal!
I want Burke fired but you can hire Nonis, Dudley or Loiselle!
So what your saying is you don't want change, you just want Burke fired?????
This team has made very little progress since his time here???? I'd argue against "very little" progress but as you just stated they have made progress! If this team is equal to the team in which Burke was handed then progress has been made. Between two equal teams, one in it's infancy and one very mature, I'll take theone in it's infancy as it is just beginning to reach it's potential as opposed to the other team which never did and never will. A young team surpassing an aging team is a very good thing.
Entertaining thread and as expected heads already exploding. Doesn't matter what he says, fans/media in this city will analyze every sentence and hold it against him till the day he's fired. He's screwed either way.

You guys just dont get it, LACK was there to allow those young guys to develope in the ahl and be much further ahead than had they played in the nhl this year when they were not ready. You armchair gm's no more than REAL hockey minds, this is clear
One doesn't need to sign poor performing talent in a difficult to trade contract just so that players can develop. You can sign those or other average players to average contracts and still let your youth develop.

And to be honest, what HFBoarders say about things is probably one of the most unimportant things in the world.
Where did I say Burke should be fired - stop putting words in people mouth
Obviously the last line was meant for you - funny - you would even respond if you really felt this way.
Listen maybe you are completely happy with Burke and his handling of the team this year, but for me his poor leadership was effectively an uninspired waste of fans time. I wonder if too many fans like you who won't hold management and the team to account and are happy with the on ice product and year after year dissapointment maybe part of the blue and white disease.
Carlyle: When Beauchemin came to Anaheim, he had "no confidence" and for weeks was "all over the ice, slapping the puck around." Took 2-3 weeks for him to regain his usual play.
