I wish we had Bure here again to revenge da Diablos from last time!
Man is been 10 years since I posted a message related to playoff hockey and Panthers on the same sentence. Still can't believe it.
I'll enjoy it while I can, I know this moment don't come very often around here

Feels like a ****ing lifetime. 12 years ago I was just starting comprehensive school, finishing 1st grade. Now I'm done with it, and on top of that finished with upper secondary school also and going to the army next.

I feel so old.
This is the first time since the year I was married the Panthers have made the playoffs. I was two years out of college. Now I'm only a year more than that removed from 40.
My 7 1/2 year old son has never known of a Panthers playoff team.

I don't - far better to have Gudbranson perhaps do to Kovalchuk what Stevens did to Bure in 2000. Granted, the Devils have more options than the Panthers did back then (though I think we still had Ray Whitney in the lineup who also wasn't very effective).
The worst part of the '99-'00 playoff run is that the team had to trade a very promising Radek Dvorak just as he was coming into his own in order to acquire Mike Vernon, who got them to the playoffs but didn't manage to win a single postseason game for them. And damn, what could have been that year if Trevor Kidd had stayed healthy and stayed hot - anyone remember his GAA was under 1.00 at the time of his injury?
This year we may have a team backing into the playoffs, but I'm hoping a lot of that was the weight of knowing that they had to win to end 12 years of futility, and it put too much pressure on them. We may see a different team on Friday, one that resembles the team that built the early division lead that held up even when they faltered through the year.
And even if the Panthers don't get anywhere this season...we've got guys like Huberdeau, Shore, Bjugstad, Rau, Howden, etc. coming up the line to look forward to seeing in the playoffs year after year. The team is being built up the right way, and it won't be a one-and-done and when will the next playoffs be? like it's been with Carolina, Atlanta/Winnipeg, and Tampa.

Oh I remember, Kidd was awesome, and then got hurt in like a charity event or exhibition of some kind no?

Wasnt he hurt in a skills competition, or something like that? He was a monster for us early on that season, and I remember we had to give up Dvorak to get Vernon, which hit us offensively. I think Dvorak ended up scoring 30 goals for the Rangers the year after. But man, Kidd was playing great for us before that damn injury.

It was a Panthers team skills competition prior to the ASG. He tried to make a big save on a move by Peter Worrell (of all people) and got injured.
