I stopped reading after they listed him as a center.

Either way I really don't mind where they send him.

Seriously, the general consensus is that he'll come in on the third line and replace someone like Mitchell and by doing so adds a little more offense and more speed to the lineup. I don't see anyone expecting ppg, or elite play from him.

Top prospect Chris Kreider is in contract discussions with the Rangers, ESPNNewYork.com has learned.

It is believed the 20-year-old center will forego his senior season with Boston College to turn pro. Whether that means he will join the Rangers and have the opportunity to make his NHL debut in the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs remains to be seen, however.

Should Kreider sign, and all signs now indicate he will, the Rangers could also send him to their minor-league affiliate in Hartford, CT to ease the transition.

Kreider led his Boston College Eagles to a national title with a Frozen Four win over Ferris State Saturday in Tampa. With his junior season over, he is now free to sign his entry-level contract with the team. The former first round pick would be eligible to play for the Rangers in the post-season.

According to several reports, Kreider's teammate Brian Dumoulin is expected to sign with Carolina today.

I have compared Kreider to Erik Cole. I would have to say that lately he has reminded me of Max Pacioretty as well but considering I see those (2) players as being very similar it makes sense. That, IMO, is Kreider's ceiling. a 55-65 point power-forward winger who creates match-up problems with his rare combination of size, strength and speed.

I'd have to think Kreider is going to ask for some sort of guarantee to be on the Rangers roster for the playoffs if he's going to sign this year, even if he does have to practice with the whale pack first

I don't think he would ask for a guarantee. At the very least, he burns a year and is closer to free agency.

If he was going to the Whale, he would be able to receive an ATO, no?

Yeah, it's probably something along those lines. ELC's are pretty standard, I thought.

If he signs......He signs............I can't not be bothered with what if's. Torts loves this team and we need to worry about game 1!!!!!

Having dept is nice but he doesnt know the system and I can't see him getting more then 5-7 min a night if he is signed.

The Whale have 3 games left. Thursday,Saturday and Sunday. The Rangers sign him and he signs an ATO to play in the AHL. The Rangers put him on the active roster next week.1st season counts. Rangers sign him and place him on active roster. 1st season counts.

The stupid Islanders gave Brock Nelson $1.925M in performance bonuses which is crazy.More $ than Strome and Nino got.

They should just let him skate in hartford for a few games and then call him up if needed in first round. Seems that players can transition fine from the system in hartford to the pros as they are basically the same

Because that cheap ass ******** team wants to use it as a way to get to the cap floor.

I think the logic points to the rangers and anyone who keeps saying whale is ridiculous. Based on the simple fact, why would they burn a year of his elc for a few games with the Whale. Also if he was going to the whale, couldnt he just sign an ATO? and then actually sign with the rangers in june/july to start his career at training camp. Either way, its pretty obvious he is coming to broadway, either this week or september, but to burn a year off for the whale is pretty dumb.

i would go the CT route as well. Get him in some gamese and if an injury occurs well then a decision needs to be made

If they can get through without using up a yr on his entry level do it.

Kreider really would only get the minutes Zuccarello left on the PP.

Speaking of Zuke if they can get by the 1st round which I think they will then we can start thinking about him again as a PP specialist

i'm in agreement with whoever is saying sending him to the whale makes no sense. if it was just an ATO, then sure. but it's moronic to burn a year off his elc just for him to play in the ahl.

but thats exactly why sending him to the whale potentially makes sense if he isn't going to get quality minutes in ny. you send him there on a ATO with the nyr contract kicking in next year and you don't burn the year. But you have to make that decision before he is added to the rangers roster. you can't add him to the rangers and then decide next week he's not ready send him down, the year will already be burned.

A Pacioretty or Cole would be perfectly fine by me. Love both of those guys.

Send him to Hartford! Exactly what they did with Hagelin last year and it worked. Don't think Kreider is gonna win the Rangers a cup this year boys.

Thiss is what we do. Sign him to an ATO and put him in CT. See how he does then we can always call him up and sign him to a contract if Torts thinks he can play.
