Just some advice from a Pens' fan. You do not have anything to worry about. I still would not go out of my way to be a jerk, but even them I doubt you would have much of an issue. I never read about or hear about issues at the arena. Certainly never saw anything happen there.
Eh, I disagree. Pittsburgh has plenty of loudmouth, tough guys hanging around their games. I saw it first hand outside when I was at the Finals game in '09 and plenty of times at Hines field.

But don't let that stop you from going to the game and cheering for your team like you were in your own arena.

I went to the GM 6 in '09 by my lonesome and in full support of the Wings, so go for it. If some yinzer gets smart and you need to defend yours just don't knee them in the groin. They got nothing there you can hurt.

Go Flyers!!!!!! I'll be here in the midst of Pens country rooting like hell for you guys.

Was at an '09 first round playoff game and a couple Flyers/Pens regular season games since, including the one on April 1st. Never had a problem. Other than a racist 12 year old. But every city has those I think.

Penguins fans aren't very antagonistic. The most creative insult they have is "Ugh Flyers...".

Thanks so much for these awesome replies guys. Though I'm going alone, I will enter Consol with no fear. Hope to see lots of orange.

By the way, John Wayne Gretzky, if you've got any more of those Hartnellmania bandanas left, I will totally buy a few off you. Let me know!

Can't waaaaaaaaaait for Wednesday.

Can I just say as an aside, I have been to your barn as a visiting fan many times and I have always been treated great. Hell the last time there we tail-gated and drank free beer with you guys for an hour before the game. We talked hockey and our mutual hate for all things Pens. We won the game and, other than getting mooned by very drunk fan, we/I have never had any issues. It is all about respect, don't be a d-bag and you will not be treated like one.
Excellent post ! MOST Philly sports fans are fine folks and treat folks respectfully.....Its that 2% that gets the headlines and makes folks think Philadelphia sports fans are a bunch of whack jobs. Thanks for posting this !

I love "go home xxxxxx" chants when I'm in a road arena.

Gives me the chance to chant "You live here, I get to leave." *

* Only recommended in a group or on your way out.

You'll find that the Pens fans act much tougher from the safety of their own car than to your face. Not a single Pens fan said anything bad to me on April 1st...until they got into their cars after the game.

I moved here (Pittsburgh) last year and was lucky enough to get lower level seats to the Dec. 29 and April 1 games here this year. I'll be at Game 2, also.

The fans are harmless, though you are going to hear a lot of things shouted out that make you want to put in ear plugs.

A few gems I heard on April 1:

"Who scored that, was it Gyro?"

"Why don't they play music during the game like they do in the NBA? That would be awesome"

"Rinaldo?! Who is that? Tell him to go back to soccer"

And then the "What the @#%^ ref!!!!" Every time a Pen player fell or an offsides whistle blew.
