Depends how he looks in practice. Regardless of the fact that he's only played college, the kid possess great skill and speed. The game is the same, its just quicker. He has the speed to match. He is a hockey player, its not like he's going to be playing tennis now. Relax.

Him in place of John Mitchell is worth a look. He will get his chance.

Why??!! Just burning a year off his ELC for no reason. He's not ready, jumping from college play and just winning a national championship to playing in the NHL playoffs without a training camp or anything? Who's he even going to replace? Pointless...

Who knows, the CBA is pretty clear that 18-21 year olds have to sign a 3 year ELC, and you only sign a 2 year ELC if you're 22-24

Kreider could perhaps be twice as fast as Scott, that would be a funny race

Vs Ottawa I can see Rupp sitting. He is also here for injury backup.

I don't think the NYR really are that bothered about burning the entry level year. They may be keen to get him on a reasonably priced 2nd contract sooner rather than later.

Honestly, what's the big deal about burning the year? If he's great they'll sign him long term. If he sucks and seems to have no hope they'll let him walk.

Correction: Kreider deal is 3 years. Becomes 2 years after burning first year by reporting tomorrow. My mistake.

Someone should tweet McKenzie and tell him that per Article 9.1 section B of the NHL CBA, Kreider has to sign a 3 year ELC

Kreider attended classes this morning. He had to get his school work straightened out. Only 16 days remaining in the spring semester.

Damn straight, Bob

For the purposes of determining how many years an ELC is for, the age of the player on September 15th of the year they sign is used.

Kreider turns 21 on April 30th, and therefor will be 21 on September 15th this year, so he must sign a 3 year ELC
